    Is bulking necessary?

    I've been going to the gym regularly as a hobby for around 4 months now though I've not really been that dedicated, but now I want to take it to the next level I just don't know how to go about it. Is bulking a good idea?

    Is bulking necessary?

    What's your height, weight, goals etc? You could quite well just body recomp for all of your first year.

    Search up "ectomorph transformation" on youtube - it all depends on your body type I guess. I have a friend who appears way more ripped than me but depending on exercise could be weaker than me. I'm bulking, he's not. After I shed off all this fat I'll most likely be more ripped than him so we'll see!

    Lol. It's up to you what you wanna do with your body and how you wanna look. No one can answer that. Bulking isn't necessary no.

    Is bulking necessary?

    Obviously you'll have to be eating in a caloric surplus in order to gain mass, otherwise where are your muscles going to get the excess nutrients to expand in volume?

    As for bulking, technically you do have to do this. Eating at a 200-300 caloric surplus everyday (basically eating 200-300 calories over your maintenance calories) is the best for lean bulking.

    Is bulking necessary?

    Increase the intensity of your workouts before you contemplate bulking. Bulking requires a caloric surplus, and since your body will have all available nutrients for protein synthesis, the consequence of this is that the excess can be used for fat gain. If you don't increase the intensity of your workout you will get relatively less protein synthesis, and relatively more fat gain.

    No bulking isn't necessary (I don't bulk, I only eat probably 200-500 calories above my daily intake), you can still gain muscle without it. It just makes gaining that muscle easier, but you'll need a proper, intense workout regimen otherwise it's not worth your time.

    I didn't eat enough calories for the first 4 months of myself working out and let me tell you how much of a waste of time it was. Gained maybe 5 pounds of muscle within 4 months even while going to the gym for 2 hours a day and following a strict and professional routine.

    BULKING IS NECESSARY. EAT AS MUCH AS YOU CAN. GL!

    I'd say bulking is pretty damn good, depends on what you're after though. If you're after girls and the easy healthy lifestyle i'd go lean. But you only think of one thing when you see a bulky guy and i don't even gotta explain.

    But for real, it all depends on what your current body weight and fat percentage is. Also, it depends on your personal goal: You wanna get jacked like a bodybuilder or clean and ripped?

    Personally I've gone for the stealth mode look lol. Took me a while to bulk up (I was skinny as hell) but I'm to the point where in any shirt (not compression shit) you can tell I work out but you can't tell how big I am (a normal fitting shirt. But once the shirt comes off.... BAM it gets you lol.
