Is Bossing Worth It?

At the moment I have a MAXED Rune Pure with 52 Pray, and with all this combat re-work I dont want to PK on it.

Is it worth getting 99 def, and 70 pray to start, and boss with my friends?

Is bossing fun? Do I have to have 95 pray? or will 70 work?

any additional comments pls add.

Don't ruin your pure yet, they are still making tweaks to the new combat update. Just wait it out and see what happens to all the pures and since your a rune pure getting a few defense levels won't hurt your account to bad. And for the question is bossing fun? It is fun when your getting them good drops but that's all about luck so you might camp at a boss for days and still not get a good drop, but since your with your friends it will be more fun for you. For the prayer question JaGex has made an update to prayer and some people are saying that all monsters can hit through prayer easily now. Me myself didn't sign up for the beta so i can't really advise you for that. Like i said just wait and see what happens in the combat beta update and maybe you will still like pking.

 

Bossing is fun.
You definitely do not need 99 def to start, I have seen multiple people with a much lower defence do it.As for prayer, you dont need 95 either. 95 does help with turmoil and soul split, but 70 will also work. You can work towards getting turmoil through the drops you get from bosses.
Its really preference, by increasing your defense level, you open up so many more activities within runescape.

 

Uh .. you didnt explicitly state it outright but it sounds as though you have no main ... I suggest to everyone that they have a main to do things like bossing and whatnot with, i personally love it you by no means need 99 def or any 99s for that matter to boss most are teamed and or have been done with people with shitty stats (look around on youtube some people like taking the challenge of taking non boss worthy accounts and doing hard things with them) bossing is lots of fun imo especially with a team of friends. While your accounts sounds great and rune/zerkers are being speculated to be some of the only good pures after update it may be worth leaving it that way for the time being. I find a main is a lot more fun over all than a pure as said above by a guy named pkerpure9 no less with higher def comes alot more things to do, i suggest you rent a maxxed main type account or something to get an idea of what its like before changing your pure. GL (btw 70 prayer is great for bossing ofc turmoil and soulsplit would be better, but with the update there are range and mage piety equivalents and thats badddass expect bones to go up as people will be training prayer out the ass considering prayer has no effect on cbt w/update )

 

the only boss that is worth killing is Nex and seeing as ur only 52 def, you would get dropped in seconds.

Ive heard like in 1/31 kills Nex drops something good, but idk if that true or not. But nowadays bossing is boring, it sucks, and the loots are terrible. I wouldn't recommend messing up your account as yet. :/

 

IMO depends what boss, nex is beneficial,

No, it's not worth getting 99 def and 70 pray.
Keep you defence level as it is.

Bossing is fun, especially with friends
Don't listen to most people above me, you NEED 95 Prayer to be successful and to get a kill, IF you want to solo.
70 will work, but it just fails, I'm an experienced PvMer.
Even more important than Prayer is Herblore.
96 Herblore is what you need. Overloads.
88 Summoning if you want to team, Unicorn makes you last MUCH longer.
96 Summoning if you want to solo, Pack-Yak is very useful.
War Tortoise is fine if you don't have the time to get to 96.

Why 70 pray? There's nothing significant unlocked at that level.
I can see 92 for soul split or 95 for turmoil, but at 70 there's really nothing noteworthy.

 

You obviously have no clue what you are talking about. At 70 piety is unlocked its not turmoil but its BADASS also jagex is making a range and mage equivalent to piety unlocked at 70. Not only that but at 70 you can bless gravestones which is invaluable while bossing in a team. You should really bone up on your RS before you start posting.

The only people who talk shit about piety are people with the money (several hundred mil) to get to 92-95, the OP said SEVENTY not 92-95 and 70 is plenty good for teaming a boss. Not everyone is ridiculously rich for super high prayer and herblore. Lots of people solo bosses without overloads and soulsplit as well.. dont believe me ? Check YT. You can boss effectively without the absolute best in every field and without hundreds of mills to blow. Not trying to flame its just you are realllly down on it acting as though bossing isnt a viable option for someone without all 99s pretty much.. and thats simply not the case. PvM can be enjoyed by alot more people than just rich maxed accounts.

 

tbh he has piety and such even though they are old prayers they are pretty good. He is asking if he needs higher prayer, which he doesn't.

 

Yes bossing is extremely worth it I enjoy it more then pvp atm and yes train your defense it will be extremely helpful no you don't need 95 prayer 70 is good enough but 95 will help you do more dmg and make you last longer. No you do not need overloads but they do help a lot. just my two cents
