Is being antisemitic wrong?

I am antisemitic, but thats only because I grew up with a racist father. I find myself not being able to be around them without being rude or racist.

 

Who is "them"? and how do you know if someone is one of "them"?

 

of course it is, just like any form of discrimination or racism.

cause my english teacher made me read like 6 books about the holocaust.
and now i just hate that subject so much.

I don't think it is, I think people way over react on bot hsides of the issue, I don't like jews, but I don't wanna kill them all, just like I don't care much for asian people but I am not racist towards them, everyone is antisematci and racist on the inside weather they show it or not

 

Why don't you like Jews? And I agree - I don't give two shits, as long as you:
A) Keep your feelings TO YOURSELF --> as soon as one person is influenced by you, then that person influences someone else, and soon enough...well, yeah.
B) Don't ACT upon these feelings of dislike.

Let me guess, you're a dumb white Christian? You realize Judaism is basically the same thing, minus a *few* basic tenants? Probably not.

 

If your discriminating against jews it is racist. Because then your generalizing and that is wrong.

i mean you don't technically have any reason to, but i guess it's not wrong, unless you act upon your belief or hatred.

Hating a race or religion of people is 100%, completely wrong. You can't just hate someone because of their beliefs, when you've never met them in your life. The main reason for antisemitism, racism, and stereotypes are parents.

Parents teach their children that Jews or blacks are lower than the rest of the world. Children being children believe this without asking questions. Why would their parents lie to them? They go on, without a reason hating Jews or blacks.

If you can't think of a real reason your antisemitic, then you shouldn't be antisemitic. If you do hate Jews, blacks, whites, or anyone please give me a reason why. I can promise I'll shut you down.

Sure it's an issue. Personal unjustified opinions are the root of bigotry.

If I was a bigot as you are, I'd just be like "That's gay." "You're a fag" and you'd take offence as you've prooved on numerous occasions.

Hate in masses and hate in general is unjustified.

 

It is common to say that anti-semitism is the hatred of Jews. That is "correct",but a more specific definition is that it is a hatred of Jews plainly for being Jewish. This hatred runs deep in many people, some have legitimate hate, some have a softer hatred.
The idea of hating a race or religion is not bad, the idea of hating them for BEING THEIR RACE OR RELIGION is evil. As stated, some Americans hate Muslims. But the commonly overlooked fact is that they stereo-type them for being responsible for ALL terrorist attacks, even though this is obviously not true. So those Americans do not hate the Muslims for being Muslim, they hate them for being "terrorists."
Anti-Semitics hate Jews for being Jews, this hatred stems from no common logic or idea. Thus, this logic leaves no room for intelligent compromise or argument. Hating a religion or race solely because they are themselves is evil. Thus being, anti-semitism is an evil hatred.

Same. I laugh at racist and anti-semeticist jokes, but I don't believe in them.



Although, if a bunch of, say, black people, are walking down a street being rowdy, making people feel uncomfortable, etc etc, then I'm going to dislike them, because of what they're doing, rather than who they are (in the sense of who they are as far as they can't help it).


And doesn't anti-semetic mean being biased against religions in general, as opposed to judaism?

 

Just because it isn't an issue, or propose a physical threat does not mean it's right. The question of this topic was if antisemitism was wrong, and even if it does not propose a threat, it is still wrong, hating without ever even seeing someone.

 

Bigots don't know if somethings wrong or not because they have no morals or logic.

Not having morals cuts you no slack. Ignorance is not an excuse to say something ridiculous like "how can you tell me what is wrong?".

Back to the topic at hand. I am Jewish, and yes I do believe anti-semitism is wrong, not because I am Jewish, just because its unethical and unjustified. How can one be an anti-semite? If someone asks you why, what will you say "Uh, because they are Jews?" What the fuck kind of answer is that? Anti-semitism is based off of nothing. They hate us just because they feel like it, there is no good reason. No one asks you to socialize with the people you don't like, just keep to yourself. If everyone just kept to themselves and didn't go around spreading the hate, then anti-semitism would be lowered greatly and it wouldn't be considered "as wrong" - but this is not the case.

 

Jews are blamed for being successful and rich. Jealousy is at the root of ignorance.

Jews bring great things to the world. There are approximately 160 Jewish Nobel Prize winners.

Steven Spielberg, Adam Sandler, Jerry Seinfeld, Natalie Portman, and Bob Dylan are Jews that bring high quality entertainment to the world.
