Is a mac... worth it?

But it won't come with a Mac when he buys it so he would have to spend a bunch more and go through the trouble of getting it himself..

 

A mac isn't worth it, they're horribly overpriced. I recommend you go on eBay and get a normal PC, running Windows or Linux. Mac OS has a user interface which was probably designed by Fisher Price.

 

If you aren't a gamer or a person that likes technology and modding your computer, get a mac. You most likely will end up liking it better because of the easy interface. 90% of the teen population has a mac nowadays because of the whole ichat thing and how you can vid chat through the camera that's built in. Macbooks aren't THAT overpriced...i mean you can get one for 800$.

 

Nullware, the only program I commonly use on my school computers are Microsoft Word, and OpenOffice.org more than covers that.

 

For school work it's amazing as said before but just in general go with a normal laptop with vista/xp.

 

Macs are great stuff, but the Macbook Pro is a rip off, as well as other Macintosh/Apple computers. They really only cost about 2000$ because of the brand name.

Although, they are still pretty nice laptops.. I guess it's because the mac UI's look better than windows lol.

 

Or just use a warez site : )
