    iPod Touch/iPhone?

    Hi,

Thinking of getting a iPod touch, considering an iPhone. 32gb, will be mainly used for music, videos and the odd application. I have been deciding whether to buy the touch now, or wait till xmas and get an iPhone. Anyone have much experience with these? My bro has a touch, just wondering about the phone.

    Thanks for any help.

    Lets put it this way-
If your a reject and don't have many friends to talk to, then you might aswell get a Itouch.

If you want the full experience get an Iphone.

I own both, their near enough the same product just remember to Jailbreak. Also I wouldn't really recommend getting a Iphone just yet, rumours of a even newer version coming soon in 2010.

Silly twat, you can already use any carrier already via ultrasn0w, and since it's a piece of cake to get out of a telephone contract, or switch over to the new iPhone each there's no reason to wait. (You can usually sell the previous generation jailbroken + unlocked for about 1/2-2/3 of the cost of the new one).

I used to have the first generation iPhone on T-Mobile when they're supposed to be on o2. But like TDD said, you can use ultrasn0w.

    iPod Touch/iPhone?

Piece of cake to get out a contract? Maybe in australia......
Yes I'm aware of being able to sell, previous generations for the newer model. But what's the point of going through the hassle, of getting out a contract which here is impossible, and for upgrading through your network they will still charge you 2/3 of the price of the new handset. I knew you going to come down to Unlocking which I don't really recommend, as that is irreversible and can cause alot of problems which I've had in the past. Thanks to some Sythe members here for helping me out on that.

Anyways back to on topic I recommend you get the new Ipod touch, then come 2010 you decide on getting a the Iphone 4G.

    iPod Touch/iPhone?

I own an iPhone 3g, and I can say it's worth the money - if I were you, I'd wait till xmass. As you say, it will be mainly used for music and videos, but why would you carry an iPod and a phone, if you could just carry an iPhone? ;)

No but he would feel like an ass, being stuck on either AT&T
Contract, or O2 on a 18/24 month contract. then a few months down the line a new version is released.

It's called a change of service clause, which is one of the biggest loopholes to get out of any carrier's contract, basically you just need to find one TINY difference between the service they're giving you and that stated in your contract, and you can get out of it without paying anything. And unlocking IS reversible, it's software-based so a restore reverses it.

You live in a great country, here all networks are BS. There is always hidden information, in your tariff. And one person I knew wanted to get out of his contract because he couldn't afford the £40 a month he was paying, he had 6 months left of the contract. He called them up, was very poor communication *(India call centres sigh..) they told him it was alright. But come 2 weeks later he was sent a letter telling him he had to pay for the remaining 6 Months in one big direct debit + a leaving charge.

Also I'm confident you can virginise from a simple JailBreak with a simple restore, but for unlocked I'm not necessarily sure because it changes some system settings, and if anything goes wrong it will erase you IMEI number so you pretty much screwed if you want a repair.

But if your lucky like me I managed to take my bricked Iphone back to the Genius Bar, the phone didn't even respond when he plugged it into his mac-book so he couldn't check.

unlocked is just as easy as jailbreak to remove, and it will not erase your IMEI, the only thing that ever touched the IMEI was zibri's jailbreak from 1.1.4 days.

you cant go wrong with the itouch to be honest, iphone is pretty sick but i doubt i would want the same touch screen typing interface as the itouch has, i find as it gets older the software lags and turns very glitchy

    iPod Touch/iPhone?

    Good old 1.1.x days ^.^

Also i would go with an iphone. I don't know where you would be planning to buy one, however i have found that they are much cheaper on craigslist(where i live anyways) then on ebay.

IE i can sell a 8gig 3g pretty easily for $370-400 on ebay, then I can pop over to craigslist and get a 16 gig 3g for $300.
