Instagram Accounts Value

Hi there,

I have seen people sell instagram accounts on the market before due to popularity.

I'm wondering, what types of things could make an instagram account worth money?

Followers? Like to follower ratio? Overall popularity? Why do people buy accounts?

I made an instagram account portraying a female for a social project which may end up being posted
onto Youtube, of course, all of this with the knowledge & approval of said female, but we are both
shocked at how fast the account is spreading across the website & we might have to cancel our project
because of this.

This project has got me interested in the Instagram account market.

 

I believe the value is often looked at in terms of engagement, from what I have seen people look at the ratio followers:likes and sometimes comments. It doesn't matter how many followers you have, engagement is key when it comes to social media accounts.

Now in terms of getting a value on an account, it depends on the niche. Some niches are really easy to monetize, some not so much.

There aren't too many variables to look at when valuing an account, but pricing is dependent on the person.

There are two markets, three at most, in Instagram accounts. First you have accounts worth $$ due to the OG usernames. They will sell alone, without followers. Next, you have stat accounts and bot accounts. They are similar, though stat accounts are usually built by hand and are of a niche category. They will have the most user interaction (legitimate likes and comments), whereas botted will definitely be noticeably fake. Comments are unrelated to posts, fake account names, etc. They tend to be the cheapest in terms of pricing. Well built accounts with certain niches, I.e. motivational, bodybuilding, cars, weed, etc, will sell for the most as the legitimate user interaction is there.

We were posting food & getting alot of food likes & stuff, and in just one day had 250 followers. I was very impressed, I think if I
would have continued on with that I probably would have gotten alot more followers, but we as a team had nothing to do with the
account & it was just an experiment to see how active the world of Instagram was.
