In depth on thread layouts?

I'm not looking for premade templates just looking for somewhere that has general knowledge on how to make thread layouts (if you have premade templates post them here too though).

Btw also using GIMP

 

not to be a douchebag but, thats what being a graphic designer does is comes up with his own good design.

 

I think you misread what im asking for,
I dont know how to make thread layouts, i wouldnt even know where to begin. if anybody knows of any guides to learn how to do them post them below.

Srsly tho, try make one. In your own style. Post results.


I have a few examples on my shop thread if you want to take a look(link in sig). Theyre fairly basic but they do the job.

 

I had previously tried to make them, but they turned out like trash. which is why im asking for helpful links or guides on it.

Hey,

Search for photoshop shapes on google ( images ). Then download the ones that you think looks good for a layout.

Now make the shape of the layout on a new layer and add a layer style ( effects ) to the shape. EG: Bevel and emboss, Glow/Shadows etc.

Then add text to it. However, Before you start making thread layouts for other users. Make some for yourself. Or make some for free. That way you gain experience with thread layouts.

What might be the best option for you is to keep making Signatures. That way you can master text and eventually you can take in layer styles for layouts.

That's not the right setting. Charging for your graphics is nothing but normal. Over charging is what grinds my gears. I hate to see the '' Go exclusive '' '' Go premium '' '' Go Prime '' '' Go special '' for only 10$ more!!

All your work should take your full dedication. Have a set price. If you think your work is Worth 50$. Put 50$. Don't put 10$ on your thread and then say pay 40$ more for premium.

Anyways, Keep doing what you do. Keep making free signatures. And you'll be charging in no time. Great example is THERSGOD. He started with free signatures that looked like crap. However he kept making them and they got better and better.

Even though he's nowere near the best designer on Sythe, He is now running a succesful shop and gets around 15$ on each sig he creates. Which is exactly how you would turn out. Just keep the dedication.

What I did was basically looking at several threads on powerbot/sythe/other sites and having a look at what other people have done. Design isn't about originality because everything has already been done, feel free to draw SOME inspiration from other designs.

I dont like the text after seeing it in the layout and i feel like i could improve on how the diamond for the layout looks. any input is appreciated

There's a distinct lack of a theme in the thread layout. To start off with there is the zelda image (which is crooked), followed by what I presume is a pokemon and Runescape to finish it off. You can do better than this man, start by taking a look at other thread layouts and getting a feel for what they have done that has worked.

 

Well the zelda triforce image, is crooked on purpose I was trying to make it look like it was "peeking" out of the image. Thats also why some of the image for it is missing. It's part of Triforce services (name me and my friends came up with)

A pokemon is included in everyone of my works. This is something that I will not change.

This specific thread layout is for a bond shop so i figured it would be fitting to put a couple bonds on it somewhere (plus the bottom of the trapezium was messed up in the border)

Regardless It does look a bit cluttered. I'll take a look at other threads again.

The thread layout is an improvement, all I can say. Its too small and cluttered though.

 

Dont give everything a gradient. Remove the pokemon or make it less obtrusive, it has nothing to do with your service. Try stick to 2 fonts per project. Make the text fit the body, try have a consistent distance from the text to the edge of the body or border. Keep the text's placement constant (Left/Right/Center). Include more information or text. Figure out how to anti alias the edges. Use photoshop.

 

It doesn't succeed in peeking out of the image. If the theme/name is Triforce services why is that not continued throughout the layout?

Just because you want to bone a pokemon does not mean you need to plaster it all over your thread layout. No one cares about pokemon and it will only look tacky, deteriorating from the piece.

Having a theme is important, and when you get one you need to stick with it the whole time (almost always). A few other things

- Make the text clear and easily readable, your two don't do that

- Make info clearly findable and clear. Tell them prices and all the info they'd generally need.

- Don't clutter, notice in the 2nd one, he has all these pictures that are above the rectangles with text, yet it doesn't look cluttered, it looks nice and clean. That's a good effect and a good thing to do


P.S Use photoshop if you can instead of GIMP
