In Depth Guide to Using Ventrilo

For information on how to configure ventrilo and to connect to servers, please refer to Sleekz guide here. My guide is to educate you on all the "perks" and things you can do while in Ventrilo. You will find I refer to Ventrilo as "vent" which means Ventrilo but is just a nickname most people use. I am only posting things that I believe that you may use. There are many other modifications you can make while in Ventrilo, however, the below posted are only ones that I feel you will use! Also, I did not include S.A. actions as I figured most of you would be guests or members only. However, if you need help with SA actions or rCon feel free to add me on MSN and I can help you out.

Volume:​

-Individual User/Special Effects-
If you are having a hard time hearing, or the user is too loud, this will help you manage the volume of the certain user.

1) You must enable Direct Sound. To do this click Setup, and check the box to enable Direct Sound(two boxes for some users). Click OK.


2) Now right click the user that you wish to modify the volume of and click Miscellaneous>>Special Effects...

3) Click "Volume", then click "Add", then OK


4) Now you can choose whether to increase or decrease their volume.
*I would not recommend going to 800% as it is a bit "staticy"*

-Increase/Decrease ALL user's volume/ your output volume-
1) Click Setup
2) To increase/decrease ALL other user's volume, look under Amplifiers and increase/decrease the "Inbound volume".
To increase/decrease YOUR output volume(Voice), look under Amplifiers and increase/decrease the "Outbound" volume.
*Once again I DO NOT recommend setting it to max (10) as it includes static*

Phantoms(Listen to users in MULTIPLE channels)

1) Right click the channel you wish to add yourself in
2) Go to Miscellaneaous>>Add/Remove Phantom

3) Now you will have a "P" next to your name in multiple channels. This means you can listen to things happening in multiple channels, but you CANNOT talk in any other than the one you are truly in.
Viewing Number of Users in Ventrilo Server
1) Right click on any channel and click "View>> "Server Browser"
2) A window will pop up and tell you how many users are currently in the server, and how many are capable of being online simultaneously.

Display Music You are listening to(iTunes/WinAmp/WMP Only)
1) Right click anywhere in Ventrilo, and click "Integration"
2) Select the program you are listening music to in (Only iTunes, WinAmp, and Windows Media Player are currently suppoted).
3) The songs you listen to will now display in your comment for others to view

Stopping Harrassment/Spam(from other users)
1) Right click anywhere in Vent, and click change state
2) Uncheck one or more of the following depending on your preference: Pages, Private Chat, Recording
Note: Pages is when a User right clicks your name and sends a page. This then sends you a Voice Clip saying page from *User Name*. This function is meant to get your attention but can be abused by many!
Private chat is also when a User right clicks your name, but this opens a seperate window enabling you to talk with the other user privately. Once again this function is meant to converse privately but some choose to spam with it.
Recording- This function enables/disables the ability for other users to capture your voice when talking
Muting Vent/Your Voice Entirely
This is pretty self explanatory, but at times useful
1) At the bottom of the screen check or uncheck the Mute Sound or Mute Microphone box
Note: Muting your Sound and Microphone only mutes it on Ventrilo, you can still use the microphone and sound on your PC for other use(s).
