Improving and Team Composition

Hey, I started playing LoL in september. I've gotten my account to level 30 manually but I'm still finding myself seriously outclassed by some teams.

What in your opinions is necessary to improve to a level of diamond+?

How important is team composition? How can you pick a team that won't be countered easily? Is it sufficient to go with the standard fighter top, high damage mid, tank/assassin jg and adc + support bottom? What variations on this standard work well? Have I accurately understood the standard?

 

Firstly it is not all who can get to diamond+ level, what are you yourself? bronze? gold? plat?
setting that high expectation being bronze is not a good idea.
Play a lot, and play ranked at that. you have played for 5 months, and if you are bronze or silver it is not meant for you to be placed that high so quickly. People spend most of their league career getting there by themselves. Just play a lot, you say you have played for 5 months but that dosnt say much as someone can play for 5 months yet only play 1 game a day.
How many games have you played?`normals?`rankeds?
also team composition matters little.
If you have struggled through being outclassed by every team, that should be eyeopening in itself since you, as someone who might have picked a better championf or team still lost; it is about winning ur lane. win ur lane, help win the game, carrying comes from winning ur lane really hard, if you win your lane really hard, you can carry the game.

When that being said, there are some champions better than others at roles, and sometimes it is disadvantageous to go a offmeta champion, but that is not to say that u can climb lots of elo with an offmeta champion, if you are a 1trickpony, and onyl know how to play poppy, or yorick, but do so really well, it is easily the best thing u can do as well to climb.

anyways, play a lot if you want to improve.

 

I haven't played many ranked games. I am silver IV and played one ranked game solo queue and got rolled so that put me off. Other than that I did provisionals.

In 5 months I've probably played the equivalent of 1+ games per day. I don't always play everyday and I sometimes spend 8 hours playing.

This game is pretty frustrating at times, especially when I pick Aatrox and just get countered by Udyr in top all day. I'll end up (un)intentionally feeding because I'm out leveled by the opposing team and think I can take them down.

I'm not trying to rush to the top without any skills, I'm wondering what skills are needed to reach the top.

I appreciate the advice. I'll play champs I'm comfortable with and play more ranked.

 

Whats skills are needed to get to the top you say?

Map Awareness, Champion knowledge - Limits, Counters, But most of all? Like with anything in life, experience.

Playing more will make you a far better player.

 

Find a broken champ and abuse the crap out of it.

Don't be stupid.

Know your objectives and what to do/take in certain situations. Map control is a much easier skill to improve than mechanics.

Broken champ isn't the best way to climb as it will get nerfed by Riot sonner or later.

A better idea is to find a champ that's not insanely OP that will obviously get nerfed, but one that fits with you/suits your playstyle. I'd say a solid 70% of my friends who are in diamond got there by playing just a handful of champions that they really really understand all the matchups for that champ (e.g. as you mentioned what do do in Aatrox vs Udyr, except with all other matchups as well), the capabilities of that champ, etc etc.
Other things such as decision making and "what to do in the right time" simply come from experience, ie playing the game more.

 

Wrong. I've gone on a 9 or 10 streak with yasuo on release, done well with Gnar and reksai as well.

Won every WW jungle game I played as well.

Champs that are broken should be abused in soloqueue. If you know how they work, it's very, very easy to carry.

Old LB was a bitch too, as well as old Zed.

 

Keep playing a specific champ and main it. Know all about the counters etc. and how to go against another champ.

As most suggested experience is key. Look up guides/tips on champions and related info.

 

But is it really the best way to learn to get better? That 9 or 10 streak might bump you up a division (or even 2 if your mmr is insane), but you'll fall right back down if you don't actually belong there.

 

That's why you keep playing. You can only get better with experience there is no secret.
