Impossible to get a job?

Look at department stores like Ross, JcPenny, Kohls, Macys, Walmart, Target, Grocery Stores etc. These jobs fucking SUCK but will get your foot in the door.

Also a lot of in-mall shoe stores like Payless seem to have a high turnover rate

Fast food places might be good just so you can get some resume experience for next time you look for work.

If you live in a college town now is a good time to look because the quarter is just ending and everyone is going home for summer

Best of luck man, I know how it feels. And worst case scenario just wait it out a year. Enjoy not having responsibility while you can

Happened to me when I was 16-17. I wrote a strong resume and tailored cover letters. I'd submit my application in person, and then call to check up on it. Or sometimes even go back in and ask to show interest. I had both volunteer and free lance experience, as well as formal leadership training.

I literally applied to 50+ places, both just random minimum wage and entry level IT jobs. I spent months looking, and out of that I only received 1 interview. The guy told me he needed someone who was 18 due to work restrictions on minors (my resume clearly stated my age, so waste of time).

I turned 18, and now I've had a much easier time getting call backs and interviews. Glad you found something, but the frustration was real.

Only just found this thread, first of all huge congratulations on getting a job, be proud of yourself man! I agree with your OP massively because I myself have been trying to find work for over 2 years and have had 10-15 unsuccessful interviews. Good luck at your work my friend

 

Gratz on finding a job! Now try and keep it for at least a year! Will look good on your next job application. Also make sure you leave on a good note. (Don't get fired and put a 2 weeks notice in)

No companies will come look for you lol with a job where you need barely any training or education, my dad taught me since i was a kid to prepare myself for when i grow up as in looking for a job, you go to the company, you tell them who you are what what youve done in the past, i hate when people say there are no jobs..you can get a job if you want to the thing here is which this dumb generation think is that youll start off by making 4 million bucks per year and wont take any less, i currently got 3 jobs i work close to 115 hours per week youll get a job if you truly want one..

 

I only get calls back for jobs that no one wants. Kohls wanted me on the sales floor talking up their products. I couldn't handle that. AMC wanted me to talking up their rewards programs. I was like wow these companies just want someone to help boost their sales. they take advantage of youth

now recently I got call back for cable technician. they want to give me a company truck, climb 25foot ladders to fiddle with cable boxes. I'm like wow I'm not gonna risk my life for some crumby paycheck so I can pay rent on some crumby apartment.
