I'm pretty sure this is bannable? Mod needs training

Not firing any shots but the moderator that closed this thread made a very poor decision in my opinion.

A) What do you mean since the trade is off the site Lolboost.net is not liable for the scam. They posted a thread advertising their services here. They got the customer here, so they should be liable for anything that happened on Sythe.

It's like if R2pleasent sells gold on his site, scams the guy, then when he gets reported you just say, "Oh you paid off the site - sucks to suck."

B) This skype is obviously their Support skype. You should ask for confirmation that it is. If it is listed on their SITE which their thread here has - they shouldn't even need a PM.

C) Let's say this report is true. In the report it showed the live chat guy saying that even though 0 Games were played on the account, only 55% refund or store credit would be available. What nonsense is that? Not only does he get ignored for weeks, they admit he is owed something but then comes up with this. Then the livechat agent then threatens to "ban" his account if he does- keep in mind Lolboost.net did absolutely nothing on the guys account! He's basically taking a refund to his own hands but they won't have any of that. They need to steal the money.

Why am I bringing this up?

Lolboost.net has a terrible reputation of scamming their boosters - that is; hiring them and they rack up nearly $500+ in finished jobs, only to remove them from skype + the site. Many of my boosters and I know many people that claim this to happen.

League of Legends section needs a MOD! The current active mods don't really have any experience - they don't know what constitutes a scam in Elo boosting, accounts sales, etc.

The ones that do seem to be always busy as no one even bothered looking at that report after a week of it being up.


Also I'm not sure if Ziggily knows anything about league but -

Make sure all Mods are qualified to determine if something is a scam. I see that Ziggily is a RUNESCAPE mod - so I'd assume he isn't qualified to moderate League issues.

No offense to you, I appreciate that you are the only mod actually looking into these cases. Thanks for your hard work. It's just annoying that since Lolboost.net basically extorts people out of money that means that there is less available customers for me to get.

I heard the same about lolboosts. However don't have any actual evidence.

I try to report all malicious users as fast/often as I can. I generally monitor the LoL section (including all subs) as often as I can, and report/pm (to staff) users that need their threads closed/altered/banned - in regards to boosts/IP sales/accounts etc.

 

I have also heard bad things about the site. But without legitimate evidence, nothing could be done. He did not hold a specific user accountable for the service so I could not ban anyone.

Edit: Just because I am a Runescape mod, doesn't mean that I do not know anything about LoL. If you had a question about this case, all you had to do was ask.

 

We'd also need to know that if the user who ordered the boost agreed to such T.O.S that would allow lolboosts to act in the way they did.

The evidence is there - it just hasn't been established as true.

ALso-

Just because you play the game doesn't mean you know exactly whats going on when people sell services regarding the game.

Have you sold boosts? Have you sold accounts? Have you bought either?

What makes you qualified to handle a report that encompasses these things?

 

I do the same; we (Sellerman, Heeatz, and I) hold the fort pretty well considering that we don't have any powers. Usually things get taken care of pretty quickly and effectively.

Edit: Although we really could use a mod for LoL, considering how big the boosting and team sales section is alone - not to mention referrals, RP sales/trades, and account sales/trades. Is it a possibility for someone with a slower section to get reassigned? Someone I was talking to a while back said that's happened before.

 

Without going into too much debate with you. No I have not sold boosts or anything of that nature. What I do know is the case was handled properly seeing that the proof was just not there. I don't know what more you would like for me to say on the matter. It is not a matter of training here, but customer negligence in the fact that they did not provide the proper evidence needed to do anything from our point of view.

I appreciate you posting your suggestions as it does contribute to the safety of the community.

Proof of what... the scam? That's when you post that you need more proof instead of dismissing it. I think what he showed was plenty...

Unfortunately, the guy doesn't even use Sythe.org anymore, or at least hasn't in a while... but the link in his signature may have been what linked the user to his website.

Edit: Oops, you did say he could post again... the website owner is awful and I think he deserves the ban just so he has less backlinks lol. =]

 

If it were up to me he would have been banned. I am going to do a bit more digging for information regarding this. I will be back here if I find anything.

Edit: So I couldn't find anything. Even the images in the report "could" have been fabricated for all we know. I hope Stunner takes the time to post what we need so we can prevent this from happening again.

 

This'd be a good idea, if they aren't willing to grab a LoL mod, which would really help the section out, like you said, we do the best we can without powers, but it'd be really good if someone had powers that had knowledge about how the LoL market works etc.

All Admins, Globals, and a handful of sectionals have powers in the LoL section, this means that we have the ability to move, lock, merge, delete, etc within that section. The use of these specific powers do not require much knowledge on LoL, but rather the handling of scam reports does. That said, I'd like to point out that ANY moderator on this site, permissions in the LoL section or not, are allowed to handle any scam reports that may arise, be it in their section or not.

We have some staff members that have knowledge in LoL, so anything that is over our heads we can just turn to them for. However, as I've stated above, permissions in the LoL section has nothing to do with handling scam reports.
