A middleman is someone who acts as an overseer of trades; ie if someone [Buyer 1] wants to buy something off of [Seller 1], but one of them doesn't trust the other, they appoint someone that both of these people trust to make sure the trade goes smoothly (taking pictures, safely transferring goods, etc etc.)
