    If you could only be invested in one Crypto...
    ...which one would it be, if you had to leave it for 1 year and wanted to see the most returns on it (or maybe a safe investment)?

    I would 100% say ETH, PIVX or GNT.

    it's all the same, that's what I was referring to. I don't have anything against PIVX. It was a good trade and if you have made some money, great. I just wouldn't hold it for a year. Every few weeks there's a new magical coin, that has a sensation around it. Easy come, easy go...

    Weigh your options on more than just popularity.

    PIVX is a DASH fork. DASH and ETH are both ultimately forks of bitcoin and subject to the same scaling issues bitcoin is. The scaling "solutions" for bitcoin's algorithm are hypothetical and 5+ years of debating them backwards and forwards between the bitcoin core developers has not seen them implemented or adopted in any currency in a working format.

    Most of the scaling "solutions" involve payment channels which are honestly a terrible option. Payment channels lock up funds and require large market players to centralize liquidity to make the network operate. In fact this is not a solution at all, but it simply an admission that most transactions need to happen "off chain" because the blockchain algorithm does not scale at all.

    This is why ripple is more than just bitcoin for banks. They use a different algorithm called the consensus ledger which, unlike the bitcoin blockchain and its thousands of forks (ETH, DASH, PIVX, etc etc), is actually capable of transaction throughput on the scale of a multinational payment network.

    Perhaps when ETH moves to proof of stake and implements sharding... if they ever do those things... and assuming their algorithms work, then they will have moved far enough away from bitcoin's blockchain algorithm to overcome its scalability problems. But at the moment that is very much intheoreum.

    Personally I don't invest in a coin unless I genuinely think it has something going for it (not just in terms of graphs/numbers). I agree though, there are so many shitcoins which are purely used for P&Ds. I try to stay away from those.

    That's cool and all but I was just saying it's a good investment to make some profit in, my personal opinion.

    I'm trying to point out that what most people are doing in the crypto market is speculation not investing. And, considering the scope of knowledge required to interpret the fundamentals, for most people it's not even an educated guess, it's basically a coin flip.
