I know my family on my dads side originally came from germany and norway. My moms adopted and we know nothing of her birth parents. Im looking for a FREE website i can use to figure what % germanic and norweigan i am as well as where i come from on my mothers side of the family.

Theres nothing I can do about getting information on my mothers family. All the information I know is her name, the surname being that of her adoptive parents, and her birth year. I only want 100% FREE websites for this.

To get a hold of her parents, you would have to find out if she had ANY family. Brothers, sisters, etc. I know in some cases in America, they give the people who adopt the child info on their past and family. That would ultimately be your best shot. As for a free website, www.ancestry.com has SOME free material. I've gotten little to nothing use out of it though, but I have found some info that could lead me to believe where I come from. I know this isn't an option for everyone, but just talking with your family can be much better than any old website you find online.

Good luck buddy. I'm having a hard time tracing my roots too, as i'm mixed race from various backgrounds. Saying that some google searches meant I could find some roots back to the 1600's, as someone else (who I assume is related to me in some way) in France already did a load of work and had an entire website full of information.

As for free sites, some do trails but I would be skeptical.
