Ideas for trivia contest

Hi. I'll be constructing a trivia contest sometime in the next week or so, similar to the Pub Quizzes from a few months ago. I want your input on how you'd like me to do it:

-What did you like/dislike from the last set of quizzes?
-What kinds of questions would you like? Hard, easy, googe-able?
-Should I keep the quizzes real-time, or have you complete a quiz on a website so you (and I ) don't have to be here at a given time every week?
-Would you like Sythe-based questions too?
-Do you want to be on teams or not?
-Do you want a quiz every week?
-Have any other suggestions?

My first thoughts were along the lines of "Make a ten-question quiz every week. Questions will cover various topics (no set weekly theme) and not be google-able. Highest cumulative score each month gets something nice." Thoughts, opinions?

I liked the questions, mix of rs and sythe.

I didn't like that I was able to get half of the questions in the couple sections I did just because I was faster at typing.

Preferably easy-medium and ungooge-able if that's possible. I'm not sure how'd you go about doing that though.

A quiz on a website. Making specific times creates a lot of issues.

No. This would make it less likely for newcomers to participate.

Do you want to be on teams or not?

Teams are nice but again it makes it more difficult to participate. Split on this one.

Do you want a quiz every week?

If people like it then I don't see why not.

Have any other suggestions?

Perhaps you could contact businesses on Sythe to sponsor a month by supplying the prize. Just an idea.

Liked bringing teams together for a fun event. Disliked the "who can google things the fastest" type of quiz, although that's kind of hard to avoid.

What kinds of questions would you like? Hard, easy, googe-able?

Gaming & Sythe related, can be other topics just don't go geography or something else completely unrelated. A little of everything, as un-googleable as possible would be good.

I'd prefer a website personally. But live is just fine too. Problem is if you do it on a website you must consider that the entire team will likely cheat and help each other.

Yeah, just avoid the "x happened in 2006" type of questions that only cater to a few oldfags. More broad sythe related questions would be better.

Realtime.

The questions should range in difficulty. If the quizzes are in realtime and there was a time limit, people wouldn't be able to google, and it would make the quiz that much more fun.

Yeah @ miniranks. Also, would people want categories of certain kinds? I like the free-for-all sort of idea that Wulf outlined in his older posts; I feel that that's truer to a real trivia contest. My current plan was just to ask questions about stuff I find interesting (which covers a lot of topic) and also ask questions that encourage you to use cool tools that the internet has available. So maybe you'll learn something along the way.

That sounds like a great setup if I'm honest.

I feel as if covering a lot of topics would be a great idea, maybe things that have occured on Sythe, maybe things personal to you that people may know and what not.

I just don't want a trivia that has obvious answers, if you know what I mean?

 

Yeah, sounds good. I'll leave this open for about ten days or so (I'm afk till early August) and see if anyone else has input.
