laptop has aids

I was listening to to spotify this morning and my laptop seized up and crashed. This has happened once before, but i thought it would just be a passing problem because I've banged around my laptop a few times and it has some other problems that are on and off. But this time when I tried to turn it on it wouldn't boot and then tried again before opening up the repair/diagnostic tools(which did nothing). I thought I was fucked basically until i tried once more about 10 minutes ago and it booted normally and now i'm using it.

Basically is this some shit that is going to keep happening until my laptop is scrap or is there something I can do to try to fix the problem.

os: windows 10

 

Clean it and see where that gets you it could be just overheating.

If the problem persists run a scan for bad sectors.

Those things may help pinpoint the issue but it could be multiple things. If you receive a BSOD error be sure to write it down and google it for a fix.

 

I'm feelin either overheating or a serious hardware issue. Burst capacitors on the mobo will make the computer behave that way. Does the y510p have an SSD? If not, before it crashes do you hear any clicking or get a blue screen? If so then it's likely just a harddrive issue. Also, any memory errors when trying to boot? If so then it could be RAM. Regardless this is a hardware problem 100%. If it persists and you're still under warranty, I'd take advantage of the coverage.

 

Unless he put an aftermarket SSD or somehow got his custom through lenovo the biggest SSD he'd have in a y510p is an 8gb so he wouldn't have enough room for the OS on it.

 

pulled out the graphics card and it stopped being shitty... I guess it's good that my laptop isn't trashed but i guess i have to buy a new gfx

What the fuck are you talking about, graphics cards are embedded on the motherboard in laptops

 

Not always, have you heard "integrated" and "discrete", gotchya.

 

Oh dang, you got me, it's almost as if integrated means that the graphics processing is handled by the CPU and not the GPU, and discrete is handled by a GPU that is soldered onto the main board.

Oh ya, got me real good.

Please, demonstrate to me how you would "just remove the graphics card" for this motherboard which has discrete graphics:

I agree i'm pretty sure that lenovo does... or at least some lenovos have removal slots.
