Help me find a new processor!

So currently I am running this processor
    [IMG]

It's done me good so far, however I can tell I need an upgrade. Currently I'm using 11-12 OSBuddys/RuneLoaders [Oldschool Runescape Client] at once and I can feel my computer capping out.

Here's a picture of my Task Manager with all the clients included.

Everything else is fine, it's just my processor that needs an upgrade. I'm looking to run 20+ OSBuddys' at once and I need a processor that can handle this without issue.

Thanks a lot for your help in advance! :p

well, for that you're going to want as many cores/threads as possible. Your options are really either from the x99 platform like a i7 5820k up to the 5960x, or anything from the xeon family. Keep in mind upgrading to x99 means needing new RAM aswell.

Yeah more likely than not, any processor that's better actually requires different RAM. I'd recomend the i7 5820k and some decent watercooling to overclock it.

If you wan't real power, google how to successfully overclock it and you'll be golden.

    And be a winner.

Links on PCPartpicker would be great as I find a bunch of different processors when I google.

What's your exact price range? There is a huge variety of CPUs.

Well, it depends, do you intend to run day and night? im assuming so considering you're probably goldfarming, in which case it might be wise to build a new system dedicated to that, a home server.

Look for a Xeon Processor and a motherboard with DDR4 Ram compatibility, its surprisingly cheap nowadays, what would be even better is if you could run it on an operating system that doesnt consume alot of your resources.

Xeon doesnt usually have intergrated graphics so im not sure if it will be able to handle the interfaces very well, but on the backend the programs should run fine.

You should link this to Jon he'll help you out
Edit: maybe you should get an eight core, might be a bit too expensive though. Ask Jon regardless :)

No idea why you're cpu usage for each client is 7%+. Mine run no more than 5%.

You could also consider simply investing in a good water cooler and overclocking the chip you have. The 4790k is a strong chip, you can easily hit 5GHz on it with proper cooling, I did it with mine but backed it down to 4.8ghz after stress testing it to prolong it's lifespan.

I'd for sure overclock with a good cooler. Will save you some bucks.

Also since you will be running it 24/7, id do a safe oc.

Do this. The only better options for you right now are to go with extreme upper-tier hexa/octa core processors which will make you start to dip into the realm of server CPUs. The sockets aren't always the same so if you go that route you might need a new mobo too. I'd seriously just overclock your current CPU.

Funny that half of the replies just mention overclocking. It's a 4790 (non K), you can't really overclock it.

You're an idiot if you honestly think non-k versions of CPU's can't be overclocked.

They overclock just fine, they're just normally not able to achieve the same clock rate as their "k" counterparts.

I mean, you can adjust your ram freq and raise the blck, but you're not going to get very good results. If he's wanting to upgrade to a new cpu, i doubt a few extra mhz is going to satisfy him.
Your response mentioned hitting 5ghz, there's no way he'd be able to come near that on a non K skew.
