So you want to know how to be a master woodcutter and get that skill cape with the awesome emote? Well I can help you.
Introduction:
Woodcutting is a very basic skill and requires only an axe and a lot of patience. It can be used for making money, although if you're used to making anything over 200k/hr, you shouldn't be too impressed with it. You can get a random event where a birds nests drop from a tree and you can get "Tree Seeds" from them that can sell for up to 190k!
Before we start, THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW!:
-Just because a tree gives more xp per log than another, doesn't mean it has a better xp rate. Higher level diifferance means faster logs.
-The random event where your axe head can fly off was removed and can no longer fly off. (thank god)
-Incase you didn't know. There is a random event call an "Ent" where the tree your cutting becomes alive and can break your axe. If the tree turns into an Ent, stop cutting it. Incase your axe does break, Bob the axe vendor in Lumbridge will fix it for a small fee.
-Monsters called Tree Spirits can appear and start attacking you, this is very dangerous if you are not paying attention. So please, be cautious of these tree spirits.
-The outfit "Lumberjack" will increase the amount of xp per log you get, but not by much.
-Wearing a rabbits foot amulet will increase the chance of finding a birds nest while woodcutting.
IF YOU CAN THINK OF ANYMORE THINGS I COULD PUT IN HERE PLEASE TELL ME.
The Basic Trees And Their Best Spots:
NORMAL TREE
Required level: 1
xp per log: 25
Suggested level to start cutting: 1
Normal trees are basically all over Runescape, I can't give you a specific location but if you can't find any normal trees, you must be retarded. Normal trees are VERY bad xp because you can only chop 1 log before they will dissapear. These aren't really any good for anything but getting a little cash maybe. The normal logs are priced at 70-100gp each on the Official Runescape Forums.
OAK TREE
Required level: 15
xp per log: 37.5
Suggested level to start cutting: 20
Oaks are very underrated for some reason. I think they are great. I found out they only give a little less xp/hr then willows (willow trees are the main power-cutting tree in runescape), plus you can make more money off of oaks because oaks sell for 30gp each on the Official Runescape Forums, while oaks cut faster than willows. I love oaks, sorry, Anyways. The best place to cut oaks i found to be is just a little bit south of Seers Bank. Yes that's right there is a bank right next to the location. There are 2 oaks which is good because oaks respawn super fast. If you want decent xp and decent money, oaks are the tree for you.
WILLOW TREE
Required level: 30
xp per log:67.5
Suggested level to start cutting:40
These are the best trees for xp in all of Runescape. A lot of people use willows to get to 99 fast. Willows go for 25-30gp each usually. If you aren't quite interested in getting money, but just really want fast xp, willows are the way to go. My favorite places to cut are these 2 locations.
1.Barbarian Outpost - Just north-west of the Barbarian Assault mini game, There are Deposit boxes in which you can use to bank your willows. Use a games necklace to get here.
2.Draynor Village - Just South-West of the Draynor Bank. You may find it to be a bit crowded at times, but if you pick the right time and world to cut here, it's a great spot.
MAPLE TREE
Required level: 45
xp per log: 100
Suggested level to start cutting: Don't Suggest at all.
I really don't see any point in cutting maples. They're bad xp, and bad money. They sell for 60-70gp each on the Official Runescape Forums. If you really must cut maples, the best spot is north of Seer's Bank.
YEW TREE
Required level: 60
xp per log: 175
Suggested level to start cutting: 70-75
Yew Trees are more on the money side than xp side. They aren't too bad xp, but I wouldn't cut them if I wanted to get 99 fast. Yews sell for 300-330gp each on the Official Runescape Forums. My favorite place to cut yews is west of Catherby, right under the flax fields.
MAGIC TREE
Required level: 75
xp per log: 250
Suggested level to start cutting: 80
Magic trees;also known as "mage trees", are mainly used for getting cash because the logs are worth 1k-1.3kgp each on the Official Runescape Forums. I HIGHLY recommend that you don't cut these for xp as the logs come very slowly. My favorite place to cut these is to the east of the Range Guild.
AXES
Here are the different types of woodcutting axes, bronze being worst, dragon being best.
Axe prices and where to get:
bronze - 0-20 gp - Can be gotten straight off of Tutorial Island.
iron - 30-60 gp - Can be gotten from the Axe Shop in Lumbridge or player made.
steel - 100-200 gp - Can be gotten from the Axe Shop in Lumbridge or player made.
black - 500-1k gp - Can be gotten as a drop from various monsters, or from the spawn location in Ardougne castle (requires 62 thieving).
mithril - 1k-3k gp - Can be gotten as a drop from various monsters, or player made.
adamant - 2k-5k gp - Can be gotten as a drop from various monsters, or player made.
rune - 15-20k gp - Can be gotten as a drop from various monsters, or player made.
dragon - 2.8-2.9mil gp - Can be gotten as a rare drop from any of the three Dagannoth Kings in Waterbirth Island.
Now, here is my route to 99 wc.
HOW TO GET 99 FAST.
refer to the guide above to get the locations for these trees.
When i say fast, i mean the fastest way to 99, not like 99 in one day.
level 1-20: Cut normal trees until you hit level 20, then head to the oaks.
level 20-40: Cut oak trees until you hit level 40, then head to the willows.
level 40-99: Get ready for the longest woodcutting you'll ever do. Head to the willows, cut these all the way to level 99.
Things to do while woodcutting to keep you from getting bored.
1.Listen to music.
2.If you have a t.v. by your computer, position it so you can watch it while you woodcut.
3.This is my favorite way and i think it works very well. Turn your "Sound Effects Volume" up all the way from the options menu on Runescape. Now blast your speakers up. Browse the internet and keep yourself occupied while you woodcut. When the tree your cutting dissapears, it will make a noise and you will no when to go back and start cutting another tree.
Well, that's all for my guide. If you have any questions or comments feel free to post them and I'll try to respond to them as soon as possible.
