Selling gold for other people is fine, yes, as long as that friend is not a moderator/jagex affiliated. (I remember on PowerBot it was in the ToS that a jagex moderator was not allowed to even be on the website. Not sure if that is active here).

If you made a thread and said that, and then attempted to sell it still, you should be TWC'ed. If you don't write on your thread that it's gone and continue to try and sell even though the stock is there, TWC. 1 strike = 1 out.

Note: I'm also not trying to be biased towards either side.

No. my friend would go 100% first, i even showed staff proof that when people pmed me i said ' 0,67 euro a mill he wants and we go entirely first and we even atated only dealig with highly trusted members, short story i got twc for cancer.
