It doesn't compromise your account security just by showing your account ingame. The person can come to you, and you can just say something simple such as "Noble Shane here." etc, that's all it would take.

If anything, recommending people you haven't had any interaction with on RS is more of a risk to your account than meeting up and saying your Sythe name.

Yes, it does. You have to verify yourself. By refusing to do so, you come off as suspicious to me. Meet up in game and we'll arrange for you to say something ingame that we agree upon on MSN. That should be more than enough to verify you are who you say you are, without any risk to your account's security.
