I dislike Metal. It's indeed what OP said, I can't understand the lyrics. + the 3 minute long guitar solo banging in my ear doesn't feel good either.

But I think your being biased. You should try some softer metal bands. They're NOT all the same.

You will get the meaning of their lyrics pretty well. They aren't those really heavy metal. More of a Symphonic Metal

It's a taste in music, everyone has his own opinion. But i have to agree with you, i dont like metal at al.

I think I have to disagree, as a long time metal head I couldn't think of a better genre! The lyrics usually have more meaning than other bands, but that depends, what do you call metal?

There are 3 types of groups associated with it:

1, you have the douche bags in uber right jeans screaming incoherently.
Exampes: a7x, atreyu, parkway drive

2, you have the smallest portion, which are a bunch of people convinced it's not annoying to make low quality songs about satanism and death.(because it must be cool right?).
Examples: dimmu borgir, cradle of filth, waking the cadaver

3, then you have real (actual) metal, it's not much different from contemporary music, you have the music, and you have the lyrics. Both are in sync, similar to contemporary music. It's just some people who love playing their instruments and have alot of fun playing. Sometimes songs have a lot of metaphors others are more blunt.
Examples: alestorm, machine head, hatebreed, black sabbath, (???), metallica.

Give "alestorm - famous 'ol spice" a quick youtube, I predict a metal awakening >=o

 

Metal/ screamo is fucking gay, it shouldn't be considered music..... idk how mych skill it takes. its just disturbing

No. It doesn't take the meaning out of the song.
Not every song HAS lyrics. And they're still there. You just can't hear them immidiately.
Metal is my life. Stop trolling and listen to some real music!

 

Metal lyrics have way more depth and meaning then Katy Perry and Ke$ha. They at least tell a story or have a point besides having fun in the sun and making money.

I always like alestorm - (pirate metal, metal about rum and wenches!) and Amon Amarth - viking metal, metal about viking adventures, folklore, and mythology, not to mention the frickin kickass viking style beat on much of their songs.)
