I dont know what to do

My roommate/ friend/ coworker has attendance issues at my job and last week he got written up for it and today he called in work based on not wanting to come in and i fear hes bound to lose his job. I originally thought it was none of my business and now im realizing that it is. If he loses his job he can't help with bills and i'll be homeless.

He has a record so getting another job wouldn't be the easiest thing to do. I fear that he is on the way out of my current job.

what do i say to him...?

I think you should just sit down and be straight to the point with him. Try to convince that it could negatively impact himself too.

You obviously have established a certain level of comfortability and trust as you live with the guy. So sit him down and sternly explain to him what's coming down the road if he doesn't get his act together. All you can do is sit him down and pray that he receives what you're saying. Try to not let yourself come across as condemning e.g. "You moron what the hell are you thinking?!" Smile, definitely give him eye contact and laugh if need be to get him to receive what you're saying in a loving matter.

It's a case of tough love I'm afraid. There's no time to be nice about it if he's close to being fired. I'd say something along the lines of... "This isn't fair, it's not yourself that's relying on your wages, it's me too. If you really are a friend you'll realise that and get your act together. Suck it up, and do your bit." Something like that, depending on what your job is maybe say how it's not hard/he does it well. Motivate him to go?
