I am NOT American!

I was just wondering, is anyone else getting sick of people assuming they're American? I've got nothing against American's, it's just become a trend which steadily gets more and more irritating!

 

you see it's because the internet was coined by Americans.
And being ignorant like most people are on the internet is very American.

therefore they assume you're American.

 

The majority of the people on sythe are from America. If you were so concerned about it why didn't you change your location.

America has the best quality of life. We're not ignorant.

Lol no because my location clearly says New Zealand =p not only Americans use this site but majority. I so wish i lived in America though i just want to experience the city life there and the whole beach scene like Cali or something lol i dunno.

 

No you don't. I promise you it's nothing like people make it out to be. There's huge amounts of ridicule, and idiocy on most public beaches.

As for Americans assuming you're from America... That's because it'd be foolish to think you were from somewhere else off the bat. We don't have much exposure to other countries at a young age, and the media coverage only covers so much.

Not to mention, America has one of the highest internet usage rates, because we can afford it easily and it comes in mass quantities. Whereas most countries have limitations, the sheer force behind the innovation and drive within Americans affords us certain benefits (as well as certain downfalls).

To put it simply, if you're not American, it's a compliment for us to assume you are... take it as such. On Sythe, however, I assume most people are from Australia. Merely because everyone I've really be cool with is from Australia or Canada... So I never assume .

Plus, you can kinda tell if someone is an American... we tend to take things for granted .

Honestly, what does it really matter? If you're offended by someone falsely accusing you of living in America, it's time to man up.

 

i'm not offended! it's just a tad irritating having people assume things because of internet stereotypes! and i'm not talking about this site lols, i haven't had it yet here ^_^ but on other things, it's just the way that people assume something instead of actually thinking to ask

I can't understand why Americans take so much pride in this country. The country is far to young to have any rich culture. And the cultures themselves don't come from the continent.

A lot I hate to be American, just because I am lumped in with the presumptuous people or feel like I am cut from the same cloth. I haven't been here 21 years and I already want to leave. Kind of sad.

 

Mm, the thing I like about New Zealand, is that even though we're a new country, we are only proud of our environment ^_^
