    hurt hamstring help please.

okay so yesterday at track practice. we were doing hand offs. and When I was running I FELT this sharp pain in my left hamstring, felt like something riped. But my coach said it was a cramp, and it would be better tomorrow. Which is today and it don't feel any better, its still really sore... Thing is... We have a regional meet Thursday.. and they need me pretty bad... What can i do to speed up the healing process so i can run!?, and is it possible to get better in 2 days?

Ice it, rest it, biofreeze it, and stretch it regularly. I did the same thing to my quad.

Sorry buddy but from what you've said, probably not.

I'd suggest going to a physio or to the doctors, they'll tell you to do some stretches and hopefully diagnose the problem. (probably a pull, tear or rip)
Try stretching it out and if it hurts, stop.
Bend your right knee slightly and extend your left leg out to the ground, pointing your toes up. Then, slowly, reach down to your toes, you should feel a deep stretch in your hamstring, which should feel a bit uncomfortable. If it puts you in a lot of pain then stop immediately and go see a qualified physio or doctor as I said.

If you want to speed the recovery (it won't be immediate but it could help) then do a few hamstring stretches *VERY LIGHTLY* every night.

Good luck man hope you're okay :)

Your injury sounds like a jarred Achilles. I think it happens when your apply too much force on the heel of the foot. I've had that before, but not very seriously.

I use the heat and cool method for quick recovery. Basically use an ice-pack for a few minutes, then use a hot/warm flannel for a few. Repeat this and smaller injuries heal pretty quickly. The method works for some people but not for others, but I'd still recommend giving it a try.

And if it's a bad injury don't force yourself to run or else it will get worse.
