Stop spamming, you will almost never get a reply within 10 minutes. Just be patient and wait for a reply.

As far as I know, there is no way that you yourself can allocate the amount of RAM to be used by Java.

Tried re-installing/updating your Java?

I don't think there is a way to allocate physical system memory to a particular program. Did you mean Page File (Virtual Ram)?

I would personally recommend just buying more RAM. It's actually pretty cheap to upgrade to 4gb by getting 3rd party RAM off newegg.

...

Throwing more ram at your computer won't make your programs move any faster. Most of the time, at least.

It's just in what the program was designed to use. However, as WTP said, setting a program's priority to high will make it run faster, not very noticeably though.

Actually, throwing more ram at a computer WILL make your programs run faster.

Programs. Not operating systems. Read. Last I checked, Vista wasn't a program.

Also, lag can also be caused by your internet connection, not just your system performance.

Well Windows XP and Vista use RAM in a different way Vista actually uses the RAM to pre load most used programs into the empty parts of your RAM Windows XP doesnt so the more RAM you have on vista how better it will be however more then 4GB is kinda useless and wont make programs faster for Windows XP 2-3 GB will be enough adding more RAM wont make a differents in Speed. (for most programs this is not for Video editing shit.

I was not really talking about Vista in my last post i was talking about the programs running on Vista because its different from XP.

Ever heard of punctuation?

Haha So your saying if you run Vista with 4GB RAM programs will run slower then when you have 8GB RAM? Well thats bullshit because it doesnt work that way.

Wow... you're BS. If you're running the 64-Bit Version of Vista or XP (AMD and Core 2 Processors), you can address up to 32 GB of RAM. So yes, 8GB will make the computer run faser than 4GB especially when multitasking.
You are right, however, in most cases, when you say that 4GB will no slower than 8GB because most people run 32-bit Windows which can only address up to 4GB. But he clearly stated that he only had 712MB of RAM. And adding more RAM to the machine (adding up to 2-4GB) would definitely make it faster, especially if it's running Vista.

Vista is a program.

Buying more RAM will only help if your programs are having to use swap space on the disk instead of RAM.

For a average computer user 4GB is more then enough adding more RAM would not make a difference in speed not even when you use 64-bit version of Vista. This is because your PC only uses the RAM needed and knowing that most computer users wont use that much memory it is a total waste of money.

Its a different story for Advanced users or for Server.
