I've been a member of sythe for quite a while now, and i used to think everybody has some sort of trust and they would'nt take advantage of it but wow there are some really greedy people that want both things.

For example a guy wants to sell his Rs account for 07gp and i go out of my way and buy 100m worth of coins = $250 + fee and then even in front of a MM / OMM they will recover the account 24-72 hours later, there " newcomer-forum addict account " gets banned and they don't care..

I just don't know how someone can scam another person and just not care? Where is the humanity in this world..

    Peace-1love.

There should be a rule were only people with 50 vouchers or more can sell rs accounts.

I agree (Y) or either have strong vouches from higher ranks, example $200 donator - administrator.

This post really doesn't belong in the SFA section. This place is more for debate type discussion generally, see: http://www.sythe.org/something-all/476986-there-strict-rules-section-read-before-posting-avoid-forum-ban.html

Don't assume anyone can be trusted, look instead at things that would be indicative of trust (Vouches, donator rank, SVU, join date, post count, forum activity, active/past scam reports).

RS accounts get recovered or locked a majority of the time especially when dealing with lesser trusted members. My opinion is avoid account sales entirely, even the most trusted person can recover the account a few years later. Nothing can be done except banning them from the site.

Will never happen, as stated by the owner himself. Not only won't there be a rule, but there shouldn't be a rule. You're telling me someone with $200 donor and 30 vouches worth $15,000 couldn't sell an account?

Don't conflate donor ranks with trustworthiness. It's almost standard for "bigger" scammers to donate $50-200 before making off with a few hundred or more.

Not gonna happen. It totally kills the market for account sales, and Sythe is 100% against anything that limits free market operations on this site. When I sold accounts in the past, I got like 4x what untrusted sellers did, but people were paying for security - you get what you pay for.

Thats honestly really sad, but you've got to remember that accounts can always be recovered by the original owner man. Some people don't have the human values that you have, and therefore you really have to be careful who you trust.

Yeah, it sucks. Honestly part of the reason is that you're behind a computer screen - the same people wouldn't think of scamming someone in real life. Think of it like a house robbery: 1% of the human population is genuinely honest and wouldn't take a cent from an unlocked, wealthy house. 1% of the population would break down your door with a sledge hammer. 98% of people aren't inherently evil, but they need that locked door to remind themselves of integrity. There's less of a locked door on the internet.

As much as it sucks mate I don't think you would need an X # of vouches to sell your account. I myself have around 20 vouches and yet I am a bit trusted over here due to my prior trades and my assistance.

Well put. Honestly, just realize accounts are a gray area for buying and selling, with or without an MM.

People will get their just desserts one day or another, and hopefully you and others got a reminder out of this. Hang in there, and all the best in bouncing back.

Not gunna happen. Sythe has stated in the past that he doesn't want to limit the market. It can often prevent people from registering. If you want to, only trade people you deem trusted, no-ones forcing you to trade anyone.

Also, 1 vouch is not always equal to another. Eg, doing a few free skilling levels on rs Vs someone going first to you in a $100 trade.

Accounts are particularly problematic. Because it's so easy to recover them, it is an extremely popular way to scam. Even if a user initially doesn't want to scam you, they may change their minds sometime down the road. You leave yourself way too vulnerable buying a Runescape account. The reality is that you should just not buy Runescape accounts, unless you are 100% certain the other party is fully trustworthy and they are the account's original owner.

Any trade where you feel you need an OMM when buying an account is set up to be a disaster. If you don't trust the account seller enough to hand them the money up front, then you shouldn't be buying the account period.

If you feel any doubt from the seller, don't buy. Look at their vouches, if they have previous account sales/gold sales/other types that can be recovered and are still around, you should be good.

    Any doubt, don't buy.

You should only ever put your trust in people who deserve it. You get to be the judge of that. Take a look at a person's vouches before trading. It's the quality, not the quantity that matters. A proper vouch shows that the person giving the vouch trusted the seller with an amount of money at a given point during the trade.

Example of what a meaningful vouch is: Person A gives 200M RSGP to Person B upfront. Upon receiving the gold, Person B pays Person A. Person A vouches for Person B.
Why is this an example of a good vouch? Person B could have walked away with 200M at any point after receiving it. Yet he chose to pay up, therefore showing he is trustworthy.

Example of a ridiculous vouch: Person A gives 200M RSGP to Person B upfront. Upon receiving the gold, Person B pays Person A. Person B then vouches for person A.
This is a meaningless vouch as Person A never did have the opportunity to abuse your trust. During this trade, nothing was at stake for person B. It's ridiculous how many such vouches you see around. Use your common sense. Such vouches are meaningless.

P.S. Take a look at my vouches below and you should get an idea of what I mean. Sorry for your loss, but be more careful next time. There's only a handful of people I'd trust with account sales.
