I wanna know how to tell my PC to shutdown say at 5am. for example I'm going to sleep at 10pm and gonna leave the computer on until 5am, but I don't wanna get up and shut it down. Any help is appreciated.

why would you leave it on for 5 extra hours? Why not just shut if off then?

us a laptop and just let the charge die?

Open up your command line (start-->run-->cmd, ok) and type the following:

shutdown -s -t (time in seconds)

So if I was leaving my computer at 11pm and wanted it to switch off at 5am, I'd type this:

shutdown -s -t 25200

That ought to work anyway.

EDIT: Simply type shutdown -a into the command line if you want to abort a timed shutdown. Also, type shutdown /? in if you want to figure out the full functionality of the command.

# Right-click on your desktop, go to "New" and click "Create Shortcut"
# A window will come up. Where it says "Location" enter: shutdown -s -t
# The rest of the location is customizable. After the -t, press space and enter the amount of time you want someone to have until shutdown in seconds with only numbers when it is activated. Press space and enter -c then another space and in quotations, type in a comment that will appear when the computer is shutting down. Click "Next". (example: shutdown -s -t 10 -c "BEGIN SHUTDOWN")
# On the next screen, name your shortcut whatever you want, it will still have the same effect. Click "OK".
# Your computer shutter downer will be on your desktop as whatever you named it. Click to activate it. If done correctly a shutdown or log-off window will come up with the amount of time, your comment, and a bunch of other stuff. You can not abort the shutdown with task manager by trying to close the window or delete the processes.
# To abort- click the Start button on your taskbar and click run. Then type in: shutdown -a
