How to resize a .gif

Finding a .gif image​

If you really want a .gif image as your avatar, but you're having trouble finding a good one, there are a variety of websites that contain lots of funny and exciting .gifs. A couple I would recommend are Gifbin or senorgif. After finding the .gif you want, save it to your computer by right clicking and selecting the "Save image as..." option. Save the .gif to your computer.

Uploading and resizing your .gif​

The magic website we'll be using to upload and resize our .gif image is www.online-image-editor.com. This section of the guide will be split into steps.

Head over to www.online-image-editor.com. Once on the webpage has loaded, you'll see a box labelled "Get started" down on the bottom left hand corner of the screen. (Seen in the image below.) Hit the choose file button and browse your PC and select the .gif you want to upload. Leave the checkboxes underneath unticked and click the upload button.





After waiting a few seconds, you'll be sent to a GUI which willow allow you to edit your .gif. You should see some really cool ways to edit your pic like adding text, rotating, adding borders, etc. The option we're looking for is the one on the far left of the middle toolbar - the resize button.





Click the resize button, and on the left of your screen you should see the resize toolbar appear. The first step is to uncheck the "Aspect Ratio" box. Next, ensure the Width (Top box) is set at 150 pixels, and height (Bottom box) is set at 100 pixels. Your image in the middle of the screen should change the the correct dimensions. When this is done, click the save (Floppy Disk) button above the resizing toolbar.





Once you click the save button, the save toolbar will pop up and replace the resize toolbar. Unfortunately, you're unable to directly upload the image to Imageshack, so you'll need to select the "Save Image Local" (The folder) button. Your image will be saved to the downloads folder of your documents under a bunch of random letters and numbers.




The final step is to upload your resized .gif image back to the internet. You can use a bunch of websites for this, but I'll be using Imgur.com. When Imgur.com loads, click the "Computer" button under "Upload Images." Search through your PC for your resized .gif image and click start upload. Alternatively, you can drag and drop the file into the page. Once the image has been uploaded, right click your .gif file that appears on the webpage and select the "Copy Image URL" option.

Thanks n4no, it wasn't even a .gif that I needed resized but I don't have photoshop installed right now and every image resizer online was messing it up or cropping it or distorting my image. This worked perfectly, thanks!
