    How to quote from a closed/archived thread! Updated for XenForo

    Hi, since the last method here:
    How to quote from a closed/archived thread!
    no longer applies as it was made when vBullentin was the software of choice for Sythe.org.
    Don't fret however as you can still quote threads from the distant past, and it's just as easy if not easier.

    First make sure you have 2 tabs open for sythe.org, one with the post you're making and the other will be for the post you wish to quote.

    Next find the post you wish to quote, for this example I'll use a locked rule thrad from the Spam Forum, but you'll probably be using it for old vouches.

    As you can see there is no option to reply! But never fear if there is a will if there is a way.

    Mouse over the Like option on the far right, right click and click "Copy link address"

    With this we will now go over to thread we're posting and paste it into the post-in-progress:

    http://www.sythe.org/posts/18287607/like

    As you can see above it gives us the post location.

    Next go to their profile page and grab the URL from there and also paste it into your post-in-progress:

    Now that we have these two things grab a random quote in a third tab or use this template:

    Code:
    [QUOTE="PosterNameGoesHere, post: 123456789, member: 123456"]Quote Contents[/QUOTE]

    Now take the post number from the first link we copied and insert it into the post slot like so:

    Code:
    [QUOTE="PosterNameGoesHere, post: 18287607, member: 123456"]Quote Contents[/QUOTE]

    Then the member number from their profile:

    Code:
    [QUOTE="Sythe, post: 18287607, member: 1"]Quote Contents[/QUOTE]

    And then their name and the contents of the quote:

    Code:
    [QUOTE="Sythe, post: 18287607, member: 1"]Google crawls the spam forum and sometimes thread titles can trend harming people's inrl business.

    Spam forum is good fun, so please just replace those mm's with nn's and you're good to go

    (I will automate this at some point)[/QUOTE]

    And tada, you quoted a post from a locked or archived thread, congrats!
