How To OLLIE IN-DEPTH

To ollie you must understand what you are doing, like why it looks like it's stuck to your feet. When people ollie you are hitting the tail on the ground, which is causing it to move upwards (like when you step on a rake, lol). As it's moving upwards at the same time you jump into the air and SLIDE your front foot towards the nose to even it out.

A lot of times people want to learn to ollie before they can ride the board naturally, if you can't, then ride around with your board first. And remember YOU CAN'T OLLIE HIGHER THAN YOU CAN JUMP.

Steps

Step 1
When you ollie you have your front foot in the middle of the board (with your foot about 3/4 on the boards width) and your back foot covering the tail with your foot all the way over it (for stability). It should be flat.

Step 2
The easiest part is SLAMMING your back foot hard so that the tail hits the ground HARD. As soon as you do that you jump (easy) and at the same time slide your front foot towards the nose to balance out the board. The timing for all this has to be just right.

TIPS
1)Remember to bend your knees, it helps you get higher.
2)Make sure your weight is OVER the board, it helps to look between your feet when you do it.
3)Ollie over stuff, it's good practice. (i.e. Coolers,books,backpacks,flaming stools[lol don't ask], other skateboards.)

At first this is all very hard, skating is fun, the ollie is hard to learn but once you got it, it's like one fluid motion , you don't have to think about it. Practice hard and keep trying, you'll get it.

If you ask ppl how to ollie they usually give you a like 2 sentence explanation...which doesnt help at all, yes this is in-depth, if you disagree show me an "in-depth" ollie thread and ill agree, k? It's not hard to ollie, but nice guide.

 

6/10, You missed some steps, such as trying stationary ollies first, also that the more speed the higher your ollie.

Just a few more "Add on" things you may want to add on are:

Just starting, either try it on grass, or if you have the tools, take off your trucks and go onto a trampoline and try to ollie. (Not sure if it works for ollieing but it works for kick flipping).

 

Trampoline thing doesn't really help, and very fresh beginners can't ollie in grass..
