How to make Bio-Diesel

CAUTION!!!!!!! YOU WILL BE WORKING WITH DANGEROUS CHEMICALS WHILE DOING THIS MAKE SURE YOU WEAR PROPER PPE (Personal protective equiptment) AT ALL TIMES WHILE DOING THIS.​

PPE Includes And also what I suggest you wear:

Rubber Gloves
Respirator
Long sleeves
Blue Jeans
and goggles​

The first step

Welcome to the wonderful world of bio degradable fuels ie: Bio Diesel.

In this step you will need the following.

1. Vegetable oil
2. Isopropyl alcohol
3. Toluene

What you are going to figure out is the FFA (Free Fatty Acids).


Procedure:
1. Mix around 50% Isopropyn alchohol and 50% Toluene into a breaker (around 50 mL of each liquid) *note it does not have to be exact
2. Take only 5 grams of your oil and put it into your jar, weigh it out very accurately (if its a few grams off its ok just make sure you use a eye dropper for this step)
3. In the jar with your solution add 2 ml in each of phenolphthalein indicator
4. Now you need to put your jar onto a mixer or you can stir it with a stirrer.
5. Start titrating into your solution of Isopropyn and Toluene with 0.1 n KOH until the color of the liquid turns pink, when it stays pink for a second record how much it took.
5. Now you can figure out how much FFA it contains! Just follow the formula below.
