I'm going to teach you how to get a cursor that goes from this:
To this:
Welcome to my Fifth Guide.
Firstly, you will need the correct equipment (software) in order to make your own cursor. To do so, go to this link:
Here, the page will look something similar to this:
Now, scroll down to the part where it says Download Icon Art, with the arrow pointing down.
Install, and such. It's freeware, and spyware free.
After you've downloaded, and installed, open it up.
When you do open it up, you will have a screen like this:
Confusing, eh?
Well, the first step you should take is to click the button that looks like this:
This will turn the white area into a grid box, and believe me, it relieves your confusion SO much.
So...What to do? I'll take you through it.
It's basically paint, but in squares. And it is a little hard to get the skill required to insert the colors in the squares and come out with the image you wanted. But for now, clicking a square should put a small dot of black in there, as the default color. Oo, neat-o!
Any color for a mouse would be sufficient, AS LONG AS you put a layer of black surrounding it. For instance, imagine a pure white cursor. You go onto a pure white page, and your cursor has full on dissappeared! OMGWUT?
So, to stop that problem, just putting a line of black around the white cursor should put that to rest, since it will outline against the white.
Don't forget, you can place your own images in there! Dragon scimitars, naked babes, spears, arrows, blah blah blah. You name it, just by clicking the "Open" button there.
So, you've made your cursor, and it looks pretty neat, and you want to try it.
Now, you might be thinking "Okay, I'll just save this" *CTRL + S*
DO NOT! If you're still editing the picture, CTRL + S is fine, as it saves it of course. But if you're finished, what you want to do now is go to "Save as cursor" which is the picture that looks like this:
After that, you'll get something like this:
So, now you must choose your hotspot. Your hotspot is basically where, when you click, the click option goes through.
E.G. Hotspot goes at the top of the triangle, means when I click, wherever the top of the triangle is, that's where the click goes. If the hotspot is in the middle, the triangle must be in the middle of the thing you are clicking. K?
Now click "Save As".
Save your icon where you want, with the name you want. Now, you've saved it, but you want to use it, right? Duh.
So now, go to your desktop, and click "Properties" or "Personalize" depending on whether you're using XP or Vista.
Go to "Mouse Pointers". It should look like this:
Okay, now click "Browse" and go to where you saved your icon. It should be saved as "yourcursor.cur" or "yourcursor.ico". Click on that and it should come up. Now, click apply and Presto! Your very own, customizable cursor.
I hope I've delighted you in some way, shape or form and I hope you'll impress me with your very sexy cursors.
But until then,
