    How to get "trusted"

    What's up scythe,

I'm trying to build up my rep here in order for me to start selling some of my accounts and start a skilling service. What is the best way to become trusted without having to donate or buy SVU?

    Thanks for the advice :)

Approved and moved to Sythe Support.

The best tool for gaining trust is time. There really isn't a magic formula for trust, just keep doing what you do and be legitimate, people will begin to trust you.

Post around the forums without spamming of course, complete trades with the other user going first to you, and get your name out there in the market. Selling accounts and a skilling service will definitely help. :)

    How to get "trusted"

As Brendan basically said, being trusted isn't something that happens over night, and everyone has different definitions of trusted.

Getting to be trusted in a lot of peoples eyes especially on a site like this that sees a lot of people come and go is not easy, staying active and engaging in friendly conversation with either your customers or just in general across the site might make you seem more trust worthy, Best of luck.

OK so I have a few tips of advice, and they're basically the same as what everyone has been saying but I'm going to tell you why you should do some of these:

    • Activity in the community: This gives a people in the Sythe community a way to actually know who you are outside of the market realm. People will get to know your personality, and start to get a genuine feel for who you are. Also, dedication in the community shows that you're here for the long run and gives off a positive impression of who you are as a person.
    • Vouches: This is a no-brainer. The more vouches you have, the more successful trades you have completed on this site. However, it should be noted that vouches are not the only measure of trust. A lot of people fret over vouches and scramble to acquire a few at the beginning by offering "free services" in the skilling market. I'll be upfront about this, a vast majority of people that offer free skilling services to "gain trust" or "acquire vouches" end up scamming within a few months. Don't waste your first few weeks on the site skilling for people to get 4 or so vouches. Try flipping gold, swapping, doing genuine trades, and you'll start seeing the vouches fly in. The point of a trade shouldn't be to gain a vouch, but rather complete a transaction.
    • Offer your help: This is distinguished by activity in the community, as activity in the community can simply mean posting in off-topic discussion forums, joking around, and chatting. Offering help can consist of things like: answering questions in the support forum, providing your insight on site issues through the suggestions and feedback forum, helping staff get rid of scammers and vaders through the RaSc section, and once you think you're ready, you can even apply to the Community Development Team and help run site wide events and offer help to the community on a large scale.

If you follow these three tips of advice, over the course of a few months or even less I guarantee people will start to know your name and who you are just based off of your username. There are many more ways to gain trust and respect in the community after you have broken a certain threshold, such as middlemanning or opening your own site, but that's a long ways ahead and a discussion for a different time.

Welcome to Sythe, and good luck :)

Hamouze has provided a great list, but one other thing I can suggest. If you'd like to kick-start your "career" here, as in make the process go a bit faster in obtaining vouches, I'd suggest donating a little bit. This helps show people that you are investing money into the site, a sign that you are here for the long-term. This is by no means necessary, but can help you get more trades/vouches initially

    Three Step Guide

    Step 1:
Learn the name of the website you are using.

    Step 2:
Read Hamouze's guide and pretend I wrote it because I'm way more helpful than him.

    Step 3:

Don't scam in 3 days and get IP banned from the website.

Follow those instructions and you will be on your way to being a trusted individual within this great community. :D
