How to convince cable company to...

How do I convince a cable company to run cable down my road. I've had satellite for 6 years and can't take it anymore. Limited youtube, facebook, twitter and if I use all of my bandwith up I can't log in to rs but for a minute and then I dc. Also if you know anything about DSL can you explain it to me and what to do to get that. Any help is greatly appreciated.

 

I have satellite internet and it sucks. The thing about cable companies running cable is that in your area there has to be enough people to justify it. The local cable company you have to be at within 1 -2 miles of the main road and there has to be enough signatures on a petition that would have them make back their money on running the line.

DSL is ran through phonelines. It requires upgrade special copper lines so chances are if your telephone/electric company hasn't ran new lines since you've been alive you won't get it.

 

Thanks for the reply. There is a small development with 4 houses. In total there is around 22 houses. Hopefully in a couple years there will be something new that everyone can use that is better than cable.

 

Out of curiosity, where do you live OP?

 

There would have to be a certain demand for them to even consider it. No point spending money on cable if they aren't going to benefit from it.

 

Well it is best you get some support from your neighberhood.
Go contact them and try to convience them to support you. On your own a cable company will not invest money.

 

You need a lot of support for that, and be willing to pay good money for it. For now, it's just the waiting game.

You should get everyone who lives around you to flash mob them, while wearing an "I Want Cable" shirt. Or, politely draft a formal request letter having everyone around you sign it.

The cable company is going to be looking at numbers, not individuals, to make their decision.

I think you would have to ask the town, if there is enough support they probably would ask the cable company.
