Buying Account - Risk of Ban?

    Hello,
I am planning on buying an account, but I am looking for some advice.
I have read that there are risks in buying an account and it being recovered which I understand.

However, I have seen much less information on if I the account I purchase is likely to get banned. Apparently account trading is against the rules, but I have not seen anybody say that the rule was actually enforced, so if anybody had some insight on if the account is likely to get banned that would be great.

Also, I have head that it is recommended that I wait at least 12 hours after receiving the account information to login for an "ip cooldown," because supposedly it may be suspicious if suddenly the account was used in a new location right after a change in email and password. My instinct is telling me to change the account information as soon as I get the account rather than leave it for 12 hours, but I don't have any experience with this. Advice?

The chance of being banned are slim to none, as for the ip cool down im not too sure if that's true, but it might be.

Buying Account - Risk of Ban?

Ok is there any other precautions I can take to prevent recovery besides using paypal, buying from sellers form good reputation, taking screenshots of account info and when buying, changing email (twice), changing password, enabling authenticator, unlinking any credit cards and unlinking any social media accounts?
    Would changing the username help?

You really can't 100% prevent a recovery, I wouldn't recommend buying accounts from users with little or no vouches.

From what I see around here I would always use a verified or official middleman to handle the trade. That way they can verify the authenticity of the trade, and they have the expertise to give advice. You can search for a Middleman in the Middleman section of the forum.

I have bought and sold accounts on other forums before. I have never had a problem with someone getting banned because of "account trading."

You will be fine. Don't sweat about it!

The chance of getting banned for that reason is so big that you shouldn't worry.

No risk of getting banned, never been..
Only risk you have is getting the owner to recover back his account, so always look out from whom you buying from.

Buying Account - Risk of Ban?

The most important thing you can do is buy the account from a trusted member. Probably about 95% of all account sale threads are scammers who will quickly recover. If you want security, it will cost alot more but will be worth it in the long run.

    think kmjt,zedrs,not stable ect.

I would recommend not buying accounts at all unless the person you are buying the account from is reputable and they are the original owner, if they are not the original owner, I wouldn't touch the account.

No risk of ban but big risk of recovery, look for sellers with alot of vouches that r volume vouches and aren't just boosted vouches or vouches of generosoty. A omm cannot recover your account back if the owner recovers it but he/she can make your receive the initial account payments. Gl with the acc u r looking to buy.

Almost 0 chance of a ban, but if the original owner wants to scam you they can do it at any time by recovering it.

From my personal experience, none. I think that Jagex in this way are so dumb because they could automatically flag accounts that are logged in somewhere and one minute after somewhere else 3000 miles away -- but they don't.

Chances of a ban aren't likely. Chances that the account gets locked are extremely likely.

There is a chance you'll get banned. Happened to me once, been 100x more careful since.

Things that might help prevent a RWT ban (don't take my word for it - I always just do this):

    - Don't interact directly with the seller, use a middleman.
    - Use Paypal instead of 07/RS3 GP as Jagex can track wealth transfer ingame, but obviously can't track Paypal transfer.
    - Change your username.
    - Don't log into the account until 24 hours have passed.
    - Don't RWT on the account for as long as possible.
    - Don't bot on the account, getting reported will just shine more light on your account.

You're more likely to get recovered than banned. The account also has a very slight chance of getting locked, but that would be because of IP change. You could recover it/have seller recover it for you or have him tell Jagex he's moving houses and it shouldn't be an issue though.

Buying Account - Risk of Ban?

Ok thanks for all the info. One more question I have is is it possible to change the login email used on the account? It seems that regardless of the actual registered email, you always login with the first email used on the account. Is there any way to change an account's login email or will I be stuck with the original email?
Is having this original email an account recovery/security threat? Will any messages be sent to the original email if the registered email is different?
