How Many Bots Per IP?

I would like to thank everyone who answered my last question. I now feel much safer botting (http://www.sythe.org/showthread.php?t=1483624)


On to the question at hand...


On my personal goldfarm, I currently run ~20 bots at any given time spread between 2 computers (10 each) and each computer has its own IP. Each individual bot runs 5-10 hours on one account before switching to the next. Bots cycle ~3 times a day so in the end each account averages 8 hour a day. So in my current setup I have roughly 10 bots per IP at a time.

I am now looking to expand and I am wondering how many accounts I should have botting on one IP address at a time given my botting setup.

Suggestions/discussion is greatly appreciated, thank you


(On a side note, am I too focused on IPs? Does Jagex even pay much attention to them?)

 

This is a tricky question in and of itself, I'm not positive how many accounts you should run per IP address. However, if they recognize you as a gold farmer, then they most likely will IP ban you from what I've read. From my understanding however, they only IP ban in extreme cases. The reason being is, it's widely known that multiple people can log into the same computer (e.g. public library computer) and only one of those people could have committed an offense such as RWT. Which means, if Jagex decided to initiate an IP ban, those innocent players would suffer with an offense they didn't even have prior knowledge to in the first place. As for whether or not Jagex investigates IP addresses or not, my guess is if they suspect a gold farmer then they would thoroughly investigate his/her account activity, cross reference the accounts/IP address, find the correlation and issue the ban.

 

As far as I know, no they don't.
I know a guy who runs like 26 or something per machine (or maybe like 42 on one machine) and he's been doing it for many months.

I think you need to change your random.dat or w/e file to read only to allow more than (12?) accounts per IP though, but besides that you should be just fine as far as I know.

 

if you want to start expanding your bot farm maybe look into get a vps

 

indeed they use severall vps's.

I already possess my own personal servers so VPSs are not necessary, just looking purely for how many bots it's recommended to run per IP

 

Well, if you want to be safe maybe 5 accounts per I.p.

If you ever get caught Gold-Farming and they track our I.P, you are risking 5 accounts only. Just do not trade with the other accounts that you have on another I.P.

 

I ran 12-14 bots on 14 different dedis each without worrying about IP and didn't have a problem.
