One does not simply learn a programming language. The only way you can become proficient is experience. The longer you spend, the more experienced you become.

It doesn't take long to get used to the rigid structure of the language, nor the core concepts. The hard part is writing your programs efficiently.

You don't learn a programming language, you just experience it. As time passes and you write more and more code in the language you will get better, but there is never a way to know it all. You will always face troubles with bugs and what not, you will spend hours googling answers, you will spend hours looking over your code; all the while learning more and more as time passes.

On the other hand, based on the length/care it appears you put into your post, you'll need to exercise much more patience than you already have to get the job done.

To learn the basics, possibly months, to get good enough to make games like activision and such companies, well, most likely you'll never be that good.

It was actually quite difficult for me after I learned c. I found the hardest part was getting used to the whole object-orient langauge thing and the frustration of creating mass lines of code in the begining called a "cat class" just to print the words "Meow" on the console. It got even worse when the constructors and operator overloading came in because of the use of references and me stubbornly trying to link my c knowledge of pointers to functions to point to class member functions. That problem solved itself when i learned virtual functions and everything past that was a breeze, class inheritance, linked lists, class and function templates and so on. So I'am gonna say it will take about 5 months for you to become intermediate level.

It will take a bit of time, that is if you're dedicated. Depends on your attention span. If you're interested in learning C++ you should try learning C# first.
