I think that the bots will be down for a maximum of around 3-4 days, then they'll be back on track.

Although I must say personally I hope they stay down for good.

They've been moving code into native binaries for some time. If they are intelligent they will continue to do this, including perhaps moving some game logic into dlls.

If I were designing the system I'd look at pushing the connection and communication code into the binaries. Then, you could probably have for example a hashcheck thread (running on the binary side) to watch the JVM's classloader for any changes to the client class files. And if it detects any then it fails to grant a connection.

So in case any of you were wondering which method Jagex used it was "mix up the IDs." Actually if the information provided was correct "mixing up the item IDs" is the least of of our worries. Since now every item instance is an object in a giant array(list). Thank you Trent for providing the link to this leak.

Just throwing this out there. If the client displays it, it has to know about it. So no matter what they do to try and hide the data, they can not confuse players about what is what or they will bitch (like when Andrew made the camera randomly move to try to mess up bots). So essentially, the information will always have to be there so the bots will always be able to work in one way or another.
