How jagex could kill gold4fun, if they cared to

The only way Jagex could get rid of a gold selling website is make it unprofitable to sell gold.

They don't have the technology to stop bots or track trades.

They do have the ability to set up sting operations.

Similar to irl where a cop poses as a dealer, sells someone drugs, and then arrests them, Jagex will sell gold4fun gold, collect the payment, and then immediately ban the account the the gold was sold to.

By doing this, Jagex essentially will take money from gold4fun. No gold will be added to the game, as it is immediately banned. Jagex will make money by essentially selling gold, without any of the bad effects of actually adding gold to the game.

They can only do this to big buyers who will buy in bulk as there is not enough time for them to sell 2 or 3 mil at a time, unless they develop and automated distribution bot...

 

would be a decent way to do something on jagex's side

setting up fake mass sells and banning whoever involved

but they dont got the time to do that so it wont happen

 

I am pretty sure ( not 100% though ) that before you buy gold you have to agree to the terms and conditions. This is similar to moparscape which clearly states you cannot be affiliated with Jagex to enter the site/buy/sell gold.

 

They aren't buying gold from gold4rs

They are selling gold to gold4rs, then once gold4rs pays them for the gold they ban the account with all the gold on it.

OT: yeah they could be doing this, but I don't think they can bother with it.

Well, the highest legal penalty for violating a websites ToS or rules is that the website can ban you for as long as they want.

It is not like everyone here doesn't violate the Tos on the runescape site and game almost every day.

If you violate a website's ToS there are no legal penalties.

If you want example of US caselaw look at US Vs. Lori Drew (2008). I don't have UK case law examples but the fact that ToS have no legal penalties still stands.

I think they buy gold for like 30% of what they sell it for.

 

Or Gold4Fun has about 1K+ accounts that are all level 3's and maybe aren't mules? They might just xfer the cash off from their real mule to the account being traded....

Plus, it's too much work.

 

Yeah i can almost guarantee GOLD4RS work with mules, and as they even claim in their own website, they use VPS and Proxies to insure you account doesnt get banned "Powerlevelling" i dont think they would be stupid enough to trade away 2.1B off one account,
