How do you profit from selling Upgrades!?

I'm a little bit confused how people make profit through selling Upgrades, I can understand making like 0.40c per upgrade through selling upgrades for RSGP and selling RSGP. But what do people do to upgrades peoples account to make it worthwhile for them?

I mainly do it because I didn't have a PayPal account, so I upgrade peoples accounts through PayBySMS to get some RSGP when I needed it and wouldn't have to worry about chargebacks or having a PayPal account, then I made a PayPal account, but I still sell upgrades from time to time.

I spend £6 an upgrade and get approx 10m+ for each upgrade.
I then go on to sell RSGP to irl friends who aren't members of sythe = Profit.
