How do I protect myself from PayPal chargebacks?

Hey everyone

I've heard that there is a way you can protect yourself from PayPal chargebacks through some form of ID verification where they ask you to upload your ID and stuff. Could anyone elaborate on this/help me with it? It would be much appreciated thanks!

 

One guy said chargebacks can no longer be made via PayPal, but I still have to ask for ID's and stuff at RSCrown so I guess that was a lie. At RSCrown we just ask for their ID and a piece of paper confirming what they are buying. At RSKnight the verification was a bit more strict where we also asked for people's credit/debit card to be uploaded (if they paid directly via one) and confirm if the last 4 numbers of their credit/debit card has the same numbers stated on the PayPal receipt. Other than that I doubt there are ways to prevent PayPal chargebacks, other than praying for a buyer with some manners.

 

Yea probably just not gonna deal with PayPal until I figure this out really, there's gotta be some way they can't just scumbag you. Thanks for the answer though

 

depends on what kind of chargeback it is, unauthorized chargeback you're going to lose 100%. however, a claim on an item you can win if you have the right proof to show paypal.

 

PayPal requires proof of delivery or proof of payment authorization. It depends on the type of claim.
For proof of delivery i ask customers to confirm their Runescape name, next i take a gif of the trade that delivers to the name that was confirmed by the customer.
For proof of authorization i would require an id that shows the customers' name, address and a note with their order within the same frame. The name and address have to match with the customers' paypal details.

this doesn't necessarily mean you will win all cases though.
if you're selling from a website you could also provide ip adresses or live chat conversations

 

Thanks for the help, I'll try doing the ID thing/doing a request money since what I've heard is that it helps. If you are paid via card or bank though, is it true that there is no way to be saved if a chargeback is done that way?

 

I think bank and credit card chargebacks are usually a bit harder to win because banks and credit card providers tend to side with their client. As long as you have sufficient proof you should be able to win these cases, although it may take a bit more effort.

dont do it, PayPal licks credit card company ass and will let them win 99%
Even if u have a matching pic of ID, forwarded reciept, evidence of the trade u WILL LOSE if its credit card related

 

If someone disputes and you lose the case, ring up PayPal and tell them you want to appeal the case. If they can't prove solid photos or evidence the gold was not delivered then you just win the case and receive all the money back that was disputed from you.
