Looking at 5 years in PRISON for not having a job!!!

Have you ever heard of anything dumber? Oh well, this thread isn't for how dumb our government and their laws are, it's for people giving me advice on what to do here.

I have a 3 year old daughter, the mother is one of those psycho bitches, won't let me see the kid, does whatever she can to make me miserable.

I have been job hunting since I was 16 years old, I put in at a minimum 50 applications per month. I'm 21 next month, so pretty much been looking for a job for 5 years. How many interviews have I had? ONE!

A week ago today, I was arrested for child support. I'm 6 grand in the hole and they charged me with a class D felony for non-support, max sentence of 5 years in prison.

I'm going to start sending child support every penny I make, but it won't help me stay out of jail, it'll just make it look good when I go to court. the bill is $210.00 per month and I make $75 per month on average, after all I don't have a job.

I've given up on seeing my kid, at one time I was going to take her to court to try and get shared custody, but they wanted around $300 in fee's just to take her to court, so I've pretty much given up on seeing my kid.

So at once I never see my daughter, and her mother has been trying to talk me into giving up my rights since she was born, I've considered doing so but before I do so, she has to sign a contract made up by a lawyer that says I will no longer have to pay child support. However, my mother says this will NOT work.

Because she is on welfare, my mom says the state is paying her, and my backed child support, I owe to the state, and just because she stops child support, doesn't mean the state will stop paying her and my bill to the state won't stop rising.

I live in central Missouri, if that helps anyone giving advice.

Being a first time offender and never being in front of the judge I have before, a 5 year prison sentence is 99% impossible, but if I don't get this shit canceled or find a job, I'll just keep going through the same shit til the judge is tired of seein me and slaps me with some kind of prison time.

 

The chances of you going to prison for 5 years is considerably low since you don't owe too much compared to others that have gotten the 5 years. You need to make sure you tell the judge about what your trying to do. Show that your making an attempt to pay each month with what you make. Also bring up the fact that she keeps the kid from you, when she won't let you be apart of your kids life, then why do you need to fund so much of that life (sounds harsh, but it's the truth)? As for the felony, It wold probably dropped, unless your a convicted felon already.

That's all the advice I can give you, I wish you luck. I find it pretty fucked up that you can't even see your kid, and she expects more then you make in child support.

 

Fuck man, my dad has friends in similar positions here in Australia. They've been looking for jobs and they've had the wife take them to court for child support, which is totally unfair. All I can say is when you do go to court provide them with evidence of you actually looking for a job maybe they'll let it slip a bit and you won't end up in jail. Best of luck.

Over here child suppurt is calculated by a percentage of your yearly income. Having a set "minimum price" is retarded imo.

 

where the hell are you applying to that after sending in 50 applications a month for 5 years you couldn't even land more than one interview? I know the job market in the states is completely fucked but i find it to be absolute bullshit that you couldn't get a job at mcdonalds or as a dishwasher at some restaurant.

post your resume, maybe there's something on your resume that is causing potential employers to steer away from you?

No offense but i get the feeling you probably look like some sort of satanic cult follower and i get the feeling your main choice of clothes is a black metal t shirt and baggy black pants. Seriously, bum for change on a street corner till you have $30, go to a local value village or some kind of thrift store and buy some nice dressier clothes for like $20, get a haircut for like $8, then wear that shit when dropping off your application.

Actually, I wear random walmart t shirts and pajama pants 99% of the time. but when I go in to apply (around here 90% of shit is all online anyway, so i don't have to look nice) but when i do go in, i wear a polo shirt and blue jeans, take out all my piercings comb my hair back real nice. I do indeed have a GED. however I just got it in february of this year.

When I go to a party or some kinda get together or outing with friends, just whatever, I usually wear some kinda fun t shirt and baggy bondage shorts. I got a bad name for myself when I was really young tho. In the early 2000s, I had 1/2 inch guage in my ear with a chain running from my nose to my ear and I was always gettin in trouble and shit. Alot of people know my name so I guess that could be affecting it.

 

hmm. i'd still recommend going to the place you want to apply at and introduce yourself as much as possible. i remember seeing your picture from your g.e.d. graduation now, and im not saying shave your beard, but if you're really serious about getting a job... shave the beard homie.

and seriously, post your resume, blank out your name/address anything important if you want. a solid resume is crucial.

 

i havnt ever applied at a place that asked for a resume... so i've nvr made one lol

 

I know there are government services that will create a resume for you. My mother was diagnosed with clinical depression after given birth to my twin sisters, and she's always been bipolar. She's had multiple ones done, and she doesn't receive benefits from the government for not being able to hold a job, I know this because my parents are trying to fight it right now. So she is simply classified as a normal person, i'm sure they will do yours also.

you should hire a lawyer- use a free one provided by the state as you wouldnt be able to afford an expensive one

Perhaps this is part of the reason you don't get interviews... resumes are important.

I don't mean to sound rude or anything with this post but I'm just going to be blunt with you.

$75/mo.? Dude people average 800/mo. working at mcdonalds. I understand that the job market can be a little bit of a drought at times, but I just find it hard to believe you can't land a wage job at a fast food place or a pizza place. What do you do to even make the $75 a month? How do you eat? Pay for gas? Where do you even live??

Again, not trying to sound like a dick but part of me is also thinking there is a little bit of a lack of motivation. I have a friend who's pretty much on the same boat as you although right now he's going through the separation phase so he isn't getting an actual bill every month yet. He has "somewhat" of a job, but it's not always steady. He also blows over $100 on weed per week which also affects his financial standing.

I know you say that you feel like your reputation in town has affected your job search, but I'd like to ask what have you done to gain that bad reputation? Reason I say this is because I don't know where you live, but I'm pretty confident that my town is no bigger, if not smaller than yours, and I landed a few jobs after I'd been convicted of multiple felonies, everyone in town knew my name and it would be evident because I'd come in and there would be people I knew working there pretty much waiting for me almost like they knew I was coming in for an interview. So I know I get discussed.

Alternatively, with a little bit of aspiration you could get into something like construction or even long haul trucking. You sound like you don't have too many priorities besides sending a check, I'd personally love to drive a big rig across country (but that's just me!).

If you don't want to answer this you don't have to but I have to ask, what do your days usually consist of?

Edit: You probably won't be spending any more nights in the big house if you start getting your shit together and taking things a little more seriously, but I can guarantee if you continue living the way you are they will throw in jail. It doesn't just disappear, and it's happened to a lot of people I know

 

It's not our. Advice here that the problem obviously the problem is you, instead of on sythe you should be applying to places if businesses are closed than do online applications. I'm not being mean here I'm being blunt obviously if you havnt found a job in 5 years of actually trying its you that's the problem not us.
