How do I know if a currency is premined?

As the title says, how can I find out if a cryptocurrency is pre-mined?
Is there a way to check how many coins of a certain currency are "on the market" ?

Announcements of new coins (they use the tag [ANN]) MUST state if there is a pre-mine or not.

Most official altcoin threads generally have that information as well.

If you plan on using any alts, you MUST keep up to date with all the relevant news of this sort. Some coins release a huge amount of coins per block solved up until a certain # of blocks are solved, then it is reduced drastically as well. Pretty much just as bad as a pre-mine.

Coinmarketcap.com shows the current volume of most of the more well known cryptos, but the lesser known ones, you'd have to look at their respective blockchains and figure that out yourself.

 

But couldn't I just lie about the coins being pre-mined (or not) and just add the ANN tag? Could anybody prove that I'm lying?

I'm new to cryptocurrency so I hope you don't mind if I ask stupid questions ._.'

 

Every coin should have a specified blockchain that is viewable to the public. Each coin starting from genesis block is recorded on the ledger. No hiding that at all.
