This happens all the time. I do it also. Watch the item, wait until there's about 1 minute remaining then watch it closely and bid 1 - 5 seconds before it ends.

I'm not sure, but what happens sometimes is that one of the bidders sets a max price, and once someone bids under the max, then it automatically bids higher than your bid.

 

its not a max bid... he bid just £1 more than I did which is ridiculous. Doesn't matter I've bought a different one cheaper aswell.

 

Such a shame haha. That's why i use craigslist.
