How can I improve?

As of these last few weeks, our SOTW section has been very inactive. I thought that with the topic being freestyle, and lacking restrictions on the week, you may post more. Weeks prior to that I've been getting more and more lenient on the rules of the SOTW, but it continued to die. How can I make it a more positive experience for you?

What keeps you posting in it?
Why do good artists give it up?

Please help, because I've shut down the SOTW for a week to see if these problems can be resolved.

 

I think they get bored of it to be honest. Doing too many signatures does get boring.

 

No one acknowledges their work. Plus people are in their second semester of school, work is now harder and exams are more difficult. Give it some time.

 

tbh i love making sig's and when i cant think of something a theme really helps out. so i try to keep entering. but i guess some people dont want to because they dont really get anything out of it.

 

There are a few people who enter it weekly, or try to, but the general problem is taht there aren't many artists on this website, or regular artists, since most move on to dedicated GFX forums once their standard is correct.

We should try to attract more artists to Sythe, and also try to increase the popularity and dedication of Sythe to arts and media?

 

Better prizes?I don't know..

 

Perhaps as Ezra suggested better prizes. Or maybe we just don't have enough GFX people on the forums. And another idea that might appeal to people is if you post their artwork somewhere on the site if they win.

 

We've already got a winner's thread for that, and a small signature you can take.

The only thing I can think to do is make signatures every week for people to win, but I'm sure we'll need more than that to attract the best artists on the site to stick with the program.

 

Better prizes would be better, theres no point really participating just to win a picture you can put in your signature.

Why do good artists give it up? Discouraged by harsh critizism possibly, not enough time anymore in my case.

 

Advertising to Sythe's graphics and media boards would greatly boost the amount of users here for the community, not just the trading facilities, so you kill two birds with one stone, by getting a bigger dedicated community and Sythe becoming more orientated towards the community aspect.

 

well ppl jst give up cause sometimes they have no motivation, they dont noe where to go or what to do ><

 

I'm not sure if you do this or not but, encourage people to participate by introducing some sort of reward for winning; It makes people strive to earn something.

 

If you're the one giving out the reward, I'm sure it'll be considered

 

Challenges instead of SOTW. Such as Viper was suggesting, greyscaling an image and making it color and such. Things tha are challenging. Anyone can go in photoshop and make an image. Not everyone can go into photoshop and do certain things.

 

hey what if the winner of sotw gets their signature they made featured somewhere on the site where everyone can see it?

How about they just make it Signature of the month?

Makes it more worthwhile, people will put even more effort into their signatures, and more competitive
