How can i get trusted/what is classed as trusted

Hi all, not sure if this is the correct section to be posting in if not can you please move /say where to post this.

As you can see i am new to sythe so to start with hi .

As i'm new i'm wondering what people class as trusted and how you get to be trusted.

I'm looking to start trading on here, but the problem being i'm not trusted and have heard there's a high scam rate on this sit (i hope not to be scammed).

So how can you deem if someone is trustworthy as you never meet them in person and its all done over a computer :/

Also what bases would you deem someone trustworthy. I've seen threads saying oi have over 1000 vouches. Obviously this seller is an extremely trusted user. But if they had 10 trades they might all be small and are waiting for that one big trade where they will scam a large amount.

Can members of sythe please advise on what precautions i can take. Using a middleman etc is good but will this cost me? Also accounts can always be recovered.

Finally Paypal. I will be looking to try and sell through Paypal but how can i prevent people recovering payment even though i've done my side of the deal?

Trust is subjective. By that I mean, it's up to you whom you find trustworthy.

In the general sense, trust on Sythe.org has a direct correlation with ones a) Quality of vouches b) Site status (i.e, Staff/OMM/High Donator) c) Ones general presence here.

You have to be vigilant when trading. Don't simply assume because someone has 1000 vouches they are immune to the whim of wanting to scam. Look at the quality, not quantity.

You'll notice most large market dealers will have thousands upon thousands of vouches, ranging from amounts as small as $5 to $5000 per single vouch. When someone reaches a stage such as so, the quality vs quantity aspect is less important, due to them already having surpassed and proven themselves.

However, as I said before, always be vigilant, never assume the best in ones self, as this is the internet.

Using an OMM/MM is highly recommended when trading. It cancels out the element of swaying over who goes first, and many potential risk factors.

Be weary however, there are successful and well regarded MM's with hundreds of successful trades middle-manned, and then there are those with only a few. Anyone has the right to call themselves a 'MM', so just make sure you are weary and take the time to look into their vouches/recent posts/report a scammer section and what not.

The difference between an OMM/MM is that an OMM has undergone a stringent process and surpassed and accomplished the required stipulations in order to acquire the title Official Middle Man. One stipulation is that they must have middle-manned a trade valued at $550. This is only one example, they undergo many many more.

With that being said, and as I mentioned before, people are capable of anything, however judging by Sythe.org's history, there have been very very few cases where a staff member and or OMM have gone wayward.

Lastly, acquiring trust yourself and making a name for yourself is all relevant and directly correlates to your activity/trading method/how many vouches you acquire, and how you respond to different situations.

Stay active, trade, gather vouches and you will make a name for yourself.

Yes, Runescape accounts and most other gaming accounts can always be recovered by the original owner. Hence it is advisable to buy accounts from those you wholeheartedly trust.

You can prevent people from recovering payments by opting to use Playerauctions and or trading with those whom you trust not to. This doesn't mean everyone you trade with who you don't deem trustworthy will chargeback, however there is always that risk element.

There are many more precautions you can take when dealing with PayPal and the prevention of being faced with a chargeback, however I'm not too familiar with that at current.

I suggest you PM any active market traders and ask them about the precautionary measures they take and have in place which allows them to use PayPal with any user and still come out on top and keep profiting.

I class people as trusted if they have one of two things

- More than 500 vouches
- The 'OMM' rank
- The 'Highly Trusted' rank

Other than that, I don't really trust them unless we have developed a personal bond. IDC if someone is staff, if they only have 20 vouches, I'm not going first. Never let postcount show as trust, or donor rank. People say it's unlikely that someone will scam less than their donor rank, but I've seen people pull off 2-3 smaller scams totalling more than the rank instead of 1 big one.

If you have the money to invest, Id also recommend donating. Assuming you are looking to stay here in the long run. Although not everyone bases trust in solely the donor rank, it helps even if its $5, along with post count. Now Im not saying trust is determined by posts and donor rank only, there are a few factors where you yourself will decide really. Someone with over 2 thousand posts, a 3 year join date, a $500 donor who is also, might I say, extremely handsome and hides his donor rank. These are some of the factors you base it on, along with the quality of trades they have done. Simply because someone has 2000 posts and 30 vouches with 1 of those vouches mentioning it was a $500 trade, doesnt mean you can trust him with $500. They may have used a middleman or he might have gone first. Something like this happened recently.

 

Dont trade if your not sure, if your not Sure always use a OMM of your choice! And welcome to sythe! If you take the right precautions and stick to what you feel comfortable with your not likely to get scammed.

Always check the quality of their vouches, for example, I only have like 10 vouches, but almost all of them are $300+ trades, whereas someone can have 100 vouches of them middlemanning membership PIN sales

 

For PayPal I suggest using playerauctions
If you are not sure about someones trustworthy you can always get middleman, alot of them provide services for free.
For RS Accs, buy from people that are trusted, that actually have something to lose rather than newcomers who can recover it in any second without any loses.
To get trusted you need to start from really small trades. If you use middleman you'll most likely get additional vouch. That helps alot.
