    We can upgrade now that the server architecture is vastly improved. It would be a pain in the butt, but it is possible.

    I'm all for what works best, is aesthetically pleasing, and has the least bugs/glitches, and will overall prove successful in the near future, in retaining and drawing in new members.

    It supports multiple different database engines. It's cleaner, newer, faster and more stable as well has having less security holes. Smart themes and a good selection as well as plugins.

    Mainly it's the multiple database engine feature as MySQL is outdated.

    MySQL is a whore, for sure. But its by no means outdated. Gmail and facebook both use MySQL as backends. As to security holes, I'm pretty sure we're patched up good and tight on the current software.

    They use heavily modified versions. Are you using MySQLi currently? If not then you should update to that. Everyone is using IPB these days as it's driven by developers rather than vBulletin which is now owned by a company more interested in profit(business men).

    Yeah it is but it's too small, new and not as appealing as vB and IPB mainly because of its age. It's range of support, mods, themes etc aren't as good either.
