How are so many people getting lured?

I don't understand how some people are so stupid and fall for these lures. It's pretty obvious when you are getting lured and it's beyond easy to avoid this. I was playing Barbarian Assault (getting my Torso) and a lvl 128 tried luring me. He told me to grab my Sara Sword and to go lvl 50 wild. I brought my SS, black d'hide, 15 brews, 5 super restores, and 5 rocktails. He traded me over the 4 noted Dragon Battle Axes and I logged right away. It's not that hard to avoid these things.

 

lol lvl 132 tryed luring me was going on about max a pk vid lol since ive heard this 100 times plus seen a mate do it once i thought id go along with it to get up this kids hopes lol. i took dclaw bcp and tassies got out to lvl 13 or sumtin he traded me dboots lol. im like yeah failed scam.. things u do when ur bored lol.. anyway i really thought that the human brain was smart enough to realise something so simple guess if kids belive some1 is gunna double ur money or actully give u a whip for betting 50k on a flower then yeah anythings possiblelol

It's really only newbs who have never been to the wild before or complete downies that fall for that shit. Sadly, the downie population in rs is quite high, hence the amount of lurers making bank.

 

Newcomers who arent used to luring arent as smart as those from the past pre-2007 when luring was a good way for cash.

next the lures are sophisticated, and could be carried out by people they used to trust. These people are scum and will do anything for RSGP.

Not all of them are stupid, they are just unfortunate to have such friends.

I dont think I would go to the wildy with expensive shit with someone I dont know..that part is just retarded IMO. For me, it's the fact that I don't keep up to date with RS anymore, so much has changed since 2006/07 that I just don't know shit anymore about tricks and quests and items anymore. So I can see that as a reason for me being lured, just because i'm old school(?)

 

People who have only been playing a year or two, steal their parents credit card/bot 24/7 and have no knowledge how to actually earn gold, will likely have no knowledge of these lures and quite frankly don't deserve to hold onto their money that's not rightfully theirs

Luring does take some skill to pull off.
I almost fell for one.
Some level 130+ was apparently having a game to win some huge cash pile. They said the first two to their house would get halves. I knew it was fake but that didn't stop me immediately clicking the Confirm on the teleother box that appears. I still don't know if you can teleother to bank lol.
I arrived near the wild agility arena where some barragers were waiting. Luckily all I had on me was a glory and d boots so I just ran until I could tele.

Other than that I just play along until I get bored.
