Look I was pretty addicted back in the day thanks to the nice people at Dragon Dyce, and i can tell you it's fucking bad. However now these kids aren't even gambling for virtual goods? They are just using paypal etc, so have found a way to bypass the legal age restriction on gambling.

My suggestion is to lock all the dicing for paypal to be 18+, virtual goods is a grey area that you can sort amongst yourselves but for real life goods I don't see why this shouldn't be 18+

How are you going to moderate this? Are new members going to be required to provide photographic ID before they can dice? Or is it going to be done by the age they put on their Sythe profiles, in which case what's stopping all the 12 year olds changing their date of birth to say they're 18.

I don't necessarily disagree with the idea, but you haven't really explained how Sythe should go about 'locking' all the dicing to 18+.

Edit: Additionally, I can't help but think that restricting it to 18+ would have no real positive impact. Either the dicing section would die (assuming it was actually an enforced rule), or all the kids you're trying to protect would use their PayPal money to buy GP and gamble that. Can't really support this.

 

The dice competition section is merely a section for people to use sythe's built in dice feature for any type of competition. Its up to individual users to adhere to the laws in their own area.

Under-age gambling is a life style cool... Only thing i agree with is the tough to enforce mentioned by others, which a solution would be to remove the 'feature' all together or withdraw people dice dueling.

Again, it isn't a "gambling" section so there isn't anything to remove. Its a section for dice competitions, if people choose to use it for that then its their own prerogative. If your suggestion is to remove the dice function for everyone then no support; if your suggestion is to collect id's from people to try and "verify" their age for something that isn't officially endorsed by sythe then again no support.

Sythe isn't promoting gambling, all they provide is a random number generator, you can use it how you please. In no way is it made for gambling, that's just what people choose to use it for. If law enforcement wants to take action on minors gambling, they have to contact each underage gambler personally, because Sythe, as a site, is doing nothing illegal.

Fair enough,just wanted to voice my stand against this crap, if it were upto me i would remove gambling all together from sythe due to the fact that it promotes underage gambling, however i can see how it won't be applicable

If underage people wish to gamble their money, they'll find a way to do it whether or not Sythe's dice stay implemented.

I dice quite frequently as a (relatively) young person. I do it for the fun, but I also have the self-control to know when to stop, how much to bet, etc. Dicing is a nice addition to the site as long as people have a bit of self-control and don't dice with likely scammers.

It isn't the responsibility of sythe to verify the age of the people that use the dice feature as it isn't setup for the purpose of gambling. Doing so would only be endorsing/making gambling an official part of sythe(which the owner doesn't want).

You have a great point, Sythe is really getting close to promoting underage gambling. You can say sythe is a black market, who the fuck cares if they break another rule. You can't enforce it, the list goes on right? I'd say if youngsters can jump on mommy's paypal and gamble away her money on sythe's forum, you're talking about absolute underage gambling. Not for virtual money, this is real bank account/credit card cash being gambled out by 12 year old kids. That's why I don't really support the gambling on sythe, too much of a risk by Richard if you ask me.
