You do realize that the presence of diseases has no bearing upon what legal rights homosexuals may have, right?

And never say Adam and Steve again. That's such a lame rhyme.

It is a psychological disorder, therefore cannot be controlled and should not be discriminated against. Would you discriminate with a retarded induvidual?

I don't get why people don't support gay rights? Just because you couldn't control black people forever, you plan on trying again with homosexuals? Real cool.

I dont know why its called gay rights. Gays have the same rights as me. They have the right to marry the opposite sex, which is what marriage is. Im not against civil unions but dont call it a marriage.

I agree with a ban on gay marriage, but most of the stuff you said in the first post was just plain ignorant.

oh, and homosexuality is clearly unnatural because in the Bible it states

"men shall not lie with men"

    period.

Yet they don't want to marry the opposite sex. They want to marry those that they love.

    Why not call it marriage?

It's satire. It's been said again and again.

Oh, can I also sell my daughter into slavery, as it says? What about stoning my son, since he questioned me earlier?

Exodus 21:7 - Permits selling your daughter into slavery.

Deuteronomy 21:18-21 - Commands parents to stone disobedient children.

You should try reading the Bible some time.

    wow

you can't just take one scripture and translate it, you have to read the scriptures before and after it

    Exodus 21: 7-10

7"(D)If a man sells his daughter as a female slave, she is not to go free (E)as the male slaves do.

8"If she is displeasing in the eyes of her master who designated her for himself, then he shall let her be redeemed. He does not have authority to sell her to a foreign people because of his unfairness to her.

9"If he designates her for his son, he shall deal with her according to the custom of daughters.

10"If he takes to himself another woman, he may not reduce her food, her clothing, or (F)her conjugal rights.

11"If he will not do these three things for her, then she shall go out for nothing, without payment of money.

this was not slavery in the sense of whips and chains but slavery in the sense as a method of paying back a debt or something of that sort, these women were treated as their purchasers WIFE OR CONCUBINE, IF YOU READ THE WHOLE CHAPTER you would see that the women were required to be well treated and taken care of.

I will get to the other scripture that you misinterpreted in a minute, YOU SHOULD TRY READING THE BIBLE SOMETIME.

Yes, slavery in the sense that you had to work for somebody, and had no choice in the matter. I still don't see how that's a good thing.

Regardless of how well they were treated, they were slaves.

    I've read it.

This was in biblical times, kid, it was customary and regular for such things to happen.

    Deuteronomy 21: 18-21

18"If any man has a stubborn and rebellious son who will (L)not obey his father or his mother, and when they chastise him, he will not even listen to them,

19then his father and mother shall seize him, and bring him out to the elders of his city at the gateway of his hometown.

20"They shall say to the elders of his city, 'This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey us, he is a glutton and a drunkard.'

21"(M)Then all the men of his city shall stone him to death; so (N)you shall remove the evil from your midst, and (O)all Israel will hear of it and fear.

UNDER THE MOSAIC LAW, which was abolished after Christ' sacrifice, stoning a consistently disobedient child was completely justified. This didn't mean petty acts of disobedience such as failing to clean their room or wash the dishes, but extreme cases where there were 2-3 public witnesses that could attest to the accusations. If parents were killing their children over every single act of disobedience imagine what the world would be like...

since every adult had to have been a child and, due to Adam sinning, everyone was imperfect, do you think any child would have been able to be completely obedient to their parents? NO.

and next time you read the Bible try to read it with understanding, kid.

That doesn't change the fact that if their children would disobey them, they would kill them by hurling rocks at them.

Probably not perfectly, but in those days, children pretty much obeyed their parents to the letter.

I did. And, not only is calling somebody "kid" one of the most overused little add-ons to any argument, it's also not actually a correct term to call me. I'm 18, you see.

The morality of the bible is old and moldy. Times have changed, and so should morality.

Not saying that the morals offered by the bible are bad - just outdated. The part about hitting your kids with rocks, that's not really going to fly...

^Exactly, everything Shredderbeam mentioned was pertaining to the rules of the Mosaic law and have no relevance in CURRENT topics.

and I have already said that hurling rocks at extremely disobedient children was customary and there was nothing inhumane or irregular about it, so what point are you trying to make?

Shredderbeam I have to congratulate you. You have basically ripped apart any opposition to this. I must say right off the bat that I actually do support gay rights, even though I am a Catholic. How can this be, you may ask, it goes against your religion and your morality?! I shall explain all this and more in the following paragraphs. Btw, I am not gay, just so you all know, if that makes a difference.
    - First of all I believe that being gay is not a choice. After all, do you choose what kind person that you are attracted to? Can you choose to love a blond rather than a brunette. You do not choose who to love. Also, do not say we cannot prove that it is something that ppl are born with because I know that. But there is also no proof that someone chooses it either so you can't really bring that up since there is no evidence either way.
    - Also, I must say, I do not support calling it marriage. Because as much as anyone here who supports it says otherwise, marriage in government is really based off of religion. As much as I do not support church and state together, it happens. The pledge of allegiance is proof enough of that. Besides if all you really want is gay rights, take what you can get and call it civil union. I believe that the term "marriage" refers to the lawful, and in most cases, religious, union of a man and a woman (not a definition, just my summary). So just give it a different name and be done with it. When you combine milk with chocolate, its chocolate milk. When its milk and strawberries, its strawberry milk. Different combination, different name. Besides that is really just a small part of gay rights anyway so just live with "civil union" to make uber strict religion ppl happy. I mean you call the significant other in gay marriage your partner, not spouse, husband, or wife. So why not just let it go.
    - You cannot use the bible as reason to not allow gay rights because, actually, that is illegal reasoning (if you actually used that in a debate with the government or something). Laws cannot be biased toward one religion over another and the bible is clearly not part of many religions therefore a law to ban gay marriage cannot be based off of things from the bible. Also, the bible does not define what is natural or unnatural. The bible was created by man and therefore contains the biases of man. Also the bible, if strictly interpreted as many ppl do, is incorrect. For example, the bible says nothing of the existence of dinosaurs, yet there is STRONG evidence that they existed(basically undeniable evidence).
    - I support gay rights because of many things that were already previously stated in the first post (about halfway down). Just because you are gay, you should have the right to make choices about your partner. If you do not know what I am talking about, go read the WHOLE first post (not just the satirical beginning - which was funny btw)
    - I can't think of anything else I wanted to say but I might post more later.

The bible is the word of God, meaning that every scripture is inspired of God, the Bible was written by prophets of Jehovah who were given instruction through his holy spirit.

    "Romans 1 1-2

    1. This letter is from Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus, chosen by God to be an apostle, and sent out to preach his Good News 2. God promised this Good News long ago through his prophets in the holy Scriptures

    2nd Peter 1: 21

".. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God"

The Bible was written by many prophets throughout the years. How do you think so many DIFFERENT people with DIFFERENT backgrounds and upbringings were able to maintain the same theme of ; Jehovah setting things right as he originally planned. How else were these people able to tell of all these stories before they happened? And if man truly wrote the Bible why is there NO ONE CLAIMING RIGHTS TO AUTHORING IT? we all know that man is selfish and they would have claimed rights to have writing something with so much wisdom as the Bible. All other religious books have clear authors, the Quran, the Mormon's Bible etc..

    and about the dinosaurs... lol

dinos had no relevance to man or God and had no reason to be mentioned in the Bible.

edit: but the rule of men not lying with men was still in effect even after the abolishment of the Mosaic law, shredder

    Corinthians 6: 9-11

"9. Don't you realize that those who do wrong will no inherit the Kingdom of God? Don't fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adulterey, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality.. - none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God. 11. Some of you were once like that. But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of God"

verse 11 signifies the sacrifice of Christ and the abolishment of the Mosaic law.

Although in no way do i support and encourage people to be homosexual. i do not think they should be denied rights. they are people as we are. but i do think homosexuality is completely unnatural and wrong. but maybe some people cant get it out of there head and they need rights and support.

    just my opinion
